Anyone out there flying a 35% Aerotech Velox Rev II? I came across a deal on a kit yesterday that was too good to pass up. Just curious what those who have built/flown one think. My tenative setup thoughts are: DA 85 or ZDZ Super 80 KS 1090 Pipe One servo per surface (5955 or equivilent) P.S. If anyone is interested I will start a build thread showing some of the mods I have in mind.

Hello, Stephen Hamilton flew his to a 3rd at the Nats 3 years ago, Andy B flew one out in Vegas and won many contests. Also it builds idential to the 42% Velox. The plane is also made around a 100cc not an 80. I think at 26lbs you will feel underpowered some. Let me know if I can help further. John |

Thanks for the input John. In your opinion is there any oportunity to lighten the airframe to accomotate the 80/85 sized motors? My intension is to honeycomb the wings, lightening holes in the elevators and rudder, and trim the "excess fat" (if there is in fact any) from the fuse components. I have not yet seen the kit components so maybe I'm dreaming....

HI Velox driver.. we had a 3w106 with real unlimited verticle... i'd encourage the 100 class size, if you're flying or plan to..upper classes, it's a great machine... their are perhaps some safe mods, however the beast flew very well stock, was such a great snapping machine.. it was a keeper until it was shot down... really liked it. It had dalton carbon cans, and their is a new source for some incrediable light; yet sturdy/dependable carbon cans...fellow velox driver..jim woody woodard.. is going to be a supplier..don

Keep in mind that the zdz super 80 on a full pipe exceeds the power of the DA 100, and bet the DA 85 does as well. A full pipe on these 80s turn them into something nasty.

Thanks guys, When the time comes if it won't balance with an 80/85 and a KS 1090 then a DA 100 she'll get. Realistically this will be a "knock around" airplane for me. 39% Dalton 300 (currently being built by Tony Russo) and a 40% Carden 330 will be my primairy/backup. From everything I have heard they excell in sequence but how is the 3D?

3d is fine if you hve big throws, and allow a sufficient gap to have 45-50 degress, for serious hucking... an aft CG as well...

I have seen don and steve fly the big one and All I can say is wow. It is such a nice flying plane. Wish I could afford To go that big. When you build it do a building trend.
