Lanier Yak

Well, I snagged a nib Lanier Yak for stupid cheap and was wondering if anyone had some building suggestions. It looks really good and will be my 3rd plane of this size. I was thinking either a ZDZ60 or going for broke and a ZDZ 80RV. I am installing 5945's all around except the rudder will be 5955tg's. Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks guys!

I flew one that my friend built with a zdz 80 and the rudder servo in the tail, one 5955 servo per aileron and the plane flew really well. I had told him i didnt think it was going to be a good plane, then had to eat those words after i flew it.

I also got a good deal on a NIB 87" Yak. I just got my DA-85 I ordered for the build. I see a lot of people building larger planes around the motor now an am wondering if it will be a good combo? I am taking a good long look at the AW 85cc Extra 260. I have to admit I am no expert flier and probably don't need the best plane out there. But I would like to build it up right though.

I have the lanier edge 540, the plane looks more like a aeroworks fuse with built up wings IMO. I was surprised how light mine felt in the air. I am running 645MG all around (2 per aileron) and a 60cc engine with a "bud-light canister". So far I have no complaints on the plane itself. the DA-85 should make that yak a rocket for sure! if you plan on using one servo per aileron, you will have to make your own servo bay in the middle of the aileron and cover up the existing bays. good luck!

Not only does the lanier yak fly well but it is also a very tough plane.It will stand up to alot of abuse in the air and on the ground. Or in my case the transition from one to the other. I "built" mine with a DA50 then a 3w75.
It flies great with either engine but it is a touch on the heavy side for the da50. If a person were to use the da50, I think you would benefit greatly from using some weight saving building practices. One servo per wing for example.Thats at least 5oz. There is a lot of material in the back of the canopy hatch that could be removed, maybe some lightening holes in the ailerons? The plane flew well but,as my skill with it progressed, I wanted more power.
Hence the 3w. Only problem with that is that the landing gear is just a little too short for a 26x10 2blade and made landings pretty interesting.So if you go with the larger engine a three blade or different landing gear might be in order.
The plane flies realy well and has ample control surfaces. I think it makes an excellent plane for someone looking to improve their flying skills 3d or otherwise. just my two cents

Hi Everyone Im just bulding one Im planning to get de DA 100 to this plane does it would be to much?
I will get futaba digitals 340oz torque and smart fly eq 6 please make me suggestions.
