I currently have a Comp-Arf 2.6m YAK, and am looking to move up to a 150cc size Comp-Arf. Although there are many great manufacturers out there, I am only interested in CA at this time. If you have experience with the 3.1 SuperXtra, 3m Extra 260, or the 3.3m Yak (I am considering the new 3m), please share your thoughts and help me decide. |

I would suggest the 260. I have flown it, and it definitely snaps and spins better than the SX. Some like the SX cause it has more straight line authority, and is more floaty. Guess you should just go with the one you like better!

I've got the 3m 260 at the moment (DA150,BMB Pipes) awsome plane. I previously had the 44% Giles, and have had a lot of stick time on the 3m 330 and MX2. Ive also had a little play with the 3.3m Yak. Out of all of them the Giles was certainly the best rolling plane but was hard to manage in the negative snaps and spins(I fly advanced), The 3m extra is a very nice all round plane but for my style of flying could benifit with full pipes. The MX2 was also a nice plane but we could never really get it to have that nice locked in feel. The 3.3m Yak(DA150 on full pipes) felt awsome in the air for the short time I had on it, you just had to be patient as it took longer to do everything. I got through the Advanced sequence with it on the 150 with know probs. I think the 3m yak would be wesome on a 150 and pipes or a 170 and can. So far Ive only had about a dozen flights on the 260 but its starting to feel real nice, it all comes down to what sort of flying you want to do.

I have the 3.1 super extra, and have done about 120 flights on it. I really love the way it flies. I power mine with a 3W 157CS I mainly fly IMAC, but sometimes cut loose with a bit of 3D every now and then. For IMAC flying the super extra really settles into a nice groove, I find it very stable to fly especially around the roll axis. It also does very graceful stall turns and spin entries when you get em right. Snap are no problem, and the model requires only a little knife edge mixing once the engine thrust lines are correct. I have had the oppurtunity to have a fly of the 3 metre 260 as well, it is also a very locked in model and probably has a better power to drag ratio than the super extra. I did find that it felt a little more 'unstable' around the roll axis. Maybe flighty is a better word.... but I am sure that it was related to the radio setup. The super extra feels slower to fly than the 260, it has more drag slowing it down on the downlines which suits my style of flying. If you arent picky about engines I believe the 3.1 is better suited to the 160-170cc motors that are coming out, particularly if your looking to fly IMAC with it. On a side note I loved my 2.6 Yak, if the new 3 metre Yak has the same flying characteristics in a bigger 'shell' I think it would be an absolute winner, especially with a 170cc up front!!

I havnt flown a 'big yak' like the 3.3, but from what I have seen it is an awesome IMAC airframe, especially with a ZDZ210 on pipes in it! At the end of the day it comes down to how good the pilot is for all of the above airframes, I think you would have to pick the one you like the look of the most

i have the 3m 260 and SX and I like the SX better. The 260 tracks well for IMAC, but the SX has so much more rudder and elevator authority for 3D. My SX is new, with only 6 gallon through the engine, so I still getting comfortable with it.

I love my 2.6 yak and when I have the cash I WILL go for the 3.0 Yak . I like the way a Yak presents IMAC and most of all I like they way they fly . Stu |
