I was refering to the vent line running over the top of the tank, if this is true I am running my feed line over the top, I was told how-to but may have miss understood

I route my tank just a little different on the inside, I make the fill line out of solid tubing and turn it down to the bottom of the tank

I'm not a big fan of running a tubing down to the bottom like that because I'm scared the clunk might get tangled in it in a violent spin or something. Highly unlikely, but something that would haunt me.

The fill line goes to the fuel dot. The feed line goes to the carb. The vent line goes to the outside to dribble fuel on your toes. I have the Dubro tank, a PSP stopper cap & fuel dot and gas can from Jersey Modeler. I've always heard it was the vent line you wanted to wrap around the tank. Mostly its whats going on inside the tank that I have no experience with. Couldn't we put a check valve on a T and a shutoff valve in the vent line? Check valve would let air in during flight. The shutoff valve would open up for fueling to let air back out. I cant imagine the Jet guys dribbling JP7 all over the place, they must have this figured out?

You have Y or a T fitting. * One side is a check valve that allows air in but not gas out. * Other side is the vent line with a valve in it you open when filling the tank. Untitled.png I'm sure there could be a good reason that wouldn't work. Like maybe the draw from the carb isn't enough to actuate the check valve. But the tank wont collapse and the fuel wont spray on your airplane in flight. I assume the Jet guys do this because you don't want a trail of jet fuel running down the fuse to the turbine.

thanks for the info. I was not sure, i have my feed line over the tank not my vent line, DA2000 told me about it but for some reason I did not understand what he said, too much time around loud noises, not dumb just deaf,as for my vent tube, I do not let it get past the stopper more than an inch, as soon as the it comes out the stopper I turn it straight down,if you never ask you never get told |

Uhhh... With covering its all the ends and corners that really get you. I'm getting quite fast and doing flat open surfaces now. I did each side of the ailerons in about 20 mins. It takes that long to do the tip of the aileron. Most of the wing tips and slow bits are done on the wings. Once the wings are covered I'm going to "float" the design on top of the yellow base. I'm hoping that will be easier and faster than trying to fit all those small pieces together on the wing. Lomcevek1 has a cool Youtube video and thread on the more advanced applications of this on this technique. The video I linked to earlier in the thread shows how to do this also and he calls it "Floating".
