[quote=gareth.ky;544307]The motor box sides and the lite ply pieces that mount to the truss sides are drilled exactly the right size for the tube. All those parts are CNC cut from Carden. All you have to do is make sure they end up in exactly the right place.

Ahh, so it was a check, not an adjustment. Just wanted to make sure, as I have read a few Carden threads and everyone seems to include this step. I would of course want to know that they are square anyways, and if not, I would have to elongate the holes.

I think you can check that the wingtube is level to the stab tube with a simple wood "U" that goes around the fuse sides and touched each side of the tube with the level resting on the "U". I think I saw Walt do something like that.

Either way, I just pre-ordered my 40% 260 for this fall. No stopping now. Not that I would.

I'm done with the canister. No midrange at all. It was acting like a bad tuned pipe. When it "came on the pipe" it was loud! I had an MTW 110K to test but forget it. Too much work and I haven't read anyone saying they were thrilled with it over the KS-95. I'm gonna put it up for sale, maybe someone has a 100 that needs a second canister on the cheap.

I have seen several 85s flying on mufflers and they work just fine.

I had to cut the bottom plate of the motor box away to get enough clearance. There is at least 4mm in every direction. I'll get test runs done tomorrow night.

Yeah, looks a little pink. DA told me that is ok if it has some pink color, but is an indication that it has been run hot at least once.

Great another thing to worry about. I wonder why it goes pink like that? I didn't notice it until you guys pointed it out so I have no idea when it happened.

I'll have the temp gun at the field next time. Its really hard to get in there and take any measurements.

DA also told me that temp guns are not to great except to know what temp the engine idles at on the ground. They said just tune the high needle so that it has a good upline without bogging down or surging (lean) and without sputtering (rich). Lean the low end out until it transitions as good as possible without dying.

I had a pink 100 and asked them if that was bad. They said no, it is just an indication that it was run on the hot side at least once. I even heard that the great Jason Shulman said if they don't turn pink, you not running them hard enough.

Just stick the muffler on and go fly. As long as your vertilce uplines run strong and long, you're fine.

I'm not too worried about how I tuned it. More concerned that I need more cooling holes up front. I cut the little round "dimple" out before the last bunch of flights. I'll get some pics tonight.
