I'm not sure when or how this happened but some CA got loose and ate the foam in one of the "cheek" bits and the belly pan. I also tried to throw a cooler through it in my car. So after talking with Caroline to make sure I could get replacement foam... Also we decided that the firewall was too compromised because of the massive cutout for the 85 and the smaller mounting pattern of the 100. There was not a lot of material around the new mounting holes. Not sure what else will go but at at least 8 inches of the belly pan is toast. I got a descent chisel and chipped it all out. It was fun to wail on this thing with a hammer. I know I felt like kicking it a few times last year. But its a new year and this is a fresh start.

Gareth, You are seeing one benefit to Cardens.. the infinite ability to fix them! GET R DONE. (that's the Ohio version. We change the "I" back to "E")

Gareth, I was wondering, does anybody use anything to "seal" the exposed foam parts (like your cheek ) with something like a urethane(that might eat it too) or anything that would not add too much weight??? It would be great in critical areas that are near fuel tanks, but then again if you have a fuel tank leak, you would have to seal "ALL" exposed foam inside a fuselage, Just a thought Doug |

Doug, I had the inside of the motor box covered in 1/32" balsa and painted with a few coats of clear polyurethane. It don't know how whatever it was that got in got in there. It didn't drip down from on top because you could not see the damage from there. Its like it came up from underneath. Carden is sending be a new belly pan, cheeks and firewall. Its a long weekend so I might get it all done by Monday. Plan was to have the re-fit done by the end of the month.

On my Carden I will be speckle painting the whole fuse including the foam pieces. I have tried the speckle paint I got on the left over shucks that I have and it did not eat away any of the foam. Seals the oarts off while looking good ![]() Neil
