I looking to build my first project this winter, this will be the first kit I have built in about fifteen years, I am looking at the Dalton Aviation and the Carden kits, I'm not wanting to start a kit war here either just want the pros and cons of each kit. Looks like the Dalton kits are laser cut and interlock. Thanks in advance. |

Seems to me this has been discussed before unless my memory has misled me. I am getting older now. Both are good choices.Anyone else remember a previous thread? Bill |

I second that...I have a Carden 330 and a Dalton 300. Each has it's own advantages over the other but both are great!!

I have nothing against Cardens but if you are looking from a building stand point the Dalton is a easier plane to build. The Carden airplanes I think are just as nice as the Daltons. But I do charge a little more to build a Carden than a Dalton. Normally I can build a Dalton of any size or model in three weeks. That's from a box of wood and foam to a ready to cover airplane. That's also just working at nights and weekends. Since January I have completed three MEL 300's, 2/3 finished with a standard 300 for Mike Milos and have started another MEL 300 for Don Hamilton. I also went to three IMAC event's and finised my NOT TO SCALE Giles 202. I also think if you build Cardens more than Daltons your going to pick up little ideas here and there on how to make the build faster. That's what I've done with the Daltons. This is from someone that built nothing but Aerotechs before I ever met Tony. I hope this helps. Rob

i tell ya what, the only experience i have with either is the mel 300 that rob from competition airframes delivered to me at the nall. he went through the plane with me and showed me how easily everything goes together on a dalton. i watched him build a canopy for a dalton 260 at the nall and the pieces sure fit great and it was completed in just a few hours! gotta love the quality of the dalton kits! (nothing against carden, i haven't any experience with them)

Cant really speak for the carden, but i can speak for the dalton. To be honest, (not meant as bashing) i was not very please with my dalton 260 kit. 3/4 of an inch had to be shaved of from the wings in order for them to fit at an acceptable distance to the fuse, the cores were not very exact, and had to be filled in at quite a few places, the stingers for the fuselage would not line up correctly, i had lots of bad wood in the kit, which had to be replaced, little things like the plates to hold the servos in place, were really light ply, bordering on balsa, that works out great on smaller planes, but for planes this size it just does not cut it, so those also had to be replaced. It's a sweet looking plane now, but the kit did not fullfill my expectations. Maybe I got a bad kit, because i'm not a hot shot pilot. All in all, I am very disappointed. nick
