hey guys.......wondering if i could get your input on this one. I could be picking up a Columbo Anderson 34% Pitts Stinker that comes in ( or should anyways) around 21-23lbs. I'm trying to figure out what motor combo i should put in this thing if i end up getting it. I was leaning more towards a twin , but i might end up going towards a big single i guess...i dunno? I think it calls for anything between a 50cc-80cc motor. I had also thought maybe a lightened up G-62 from RCIGN might be a good choice as well....but i want to make sure this thing has plenty of poop to pull it'self out of a hover. God....i have been going crazy with buy airplane stuff over the last month...wallet's gonna be hurtin by spring time! ![]() Jeff |

I believe it's about 77" wingspan with an all up weight of 21-23lbs. I was leaning towards a twin at first , but i might end up going with a single instead. I have a BME 115 that's already spoken for in my 35% WH Sukhoi , and am going to pick up a DA 85 for the 33% Dietrich 260 that's coming out ( already made my deposit on that bad boy.) And now.....just have to figure out what to put into this CA Pitts. I think i may have a 3W-80cs motor i can get from my room mate , as i think he's moving up to the 37-38% airframes this next summer , and his 33% yak is going to get torn down. I don't know if that motor will fit right , or it'll be overkill on the pitts. I do know that the 3W 75 is the same size.......so i would rather just slap on the 3W-80 if that's the case.

I just started putting my pitts stinker together, I'm installing a DA85 in mine. This plane was designed around the 3W75 side carb with pitts muffler, it drops right in without any mods. Any other motor will most likely require mods. The DA85 will require cutting a hole in the fire wall for the carb and cutting about 1" off the bottom of the firewall for a standard Jtec pitts muffler. I talked to Jtec and they can make a pitts muffler that will not require cutting the fire wall. Darrell Last edited by litho; 11-16-2007 at 10:10 PM. |

Jeff, I'll second litho's comment. I have a 3W-75CS for mine, but haven't flown it yet. The DA 85 wasn't out when I bought the Stinker, or I would use that. The side carb on the 75 would be less messy to install -- mine fits great. Jim |

Jim, I have a couple of questions. How did you lock the incidence on the horizontal stab? Where/how did you mount the flying wires on the lower wing at the fuse? I have a few ideas but I'm always open to suggestions. thanks Darrell |

aaahhh.....so that's why they say the 3W-75 was the choice for this plane. That makes sense , i didn't even think about the side carb on the 75. I was starting to think nobody else owned this model , it's good to know there are a few of us out there that do.

Jeff, When will yours be in I'm curious if all the s/n match. Mine didn't so it will be a little extra work but not a problem. The wings have one s/n and the rest of the plane has another. I have to remount the lower wing as the bolt holes don't line up very well. Last edited by litho; 11-16-2007 at 11:57 PM. |
