New to this site. I have a question on 1/3 scale J3 Cubs. I have an OS 300 Twin, NIB. Will it fly one of these?? I know gas engines of 50 size or better will, but I do not intend to fly other than how a full size does. No hanging on the prop, etc. I am looking at BalsaUSA kit. Thanks in advance. cheerzzzz

Thanks, ok, one vote, any more, this is a pricey venture, with the cost of the kit, and the engine, geeehsss, I could buy a car. Any input appreciated. Build em, fly em, crash em, gravity always wins, cheerzzzz

I had a Balsa USA 1/3 Cub many years ago and it flew very well on a Supertiger 3000 which is a 1.8 glow motor. I would say you would be good a on a 3 ci 4 stroke. Buy it, Fly it, Enjoy it.

I would also like to add, the one I did was from Bob Nelitz plans. I also saw him fly his , doing aerobatics the way a cub does. but get this , doing this on a quadra 35 . So your good to go. Roger

I have a World Models 1/3 Super Cub P18. I do plan to hang it on the prop, probably also with floats on, so I'm hanging a 3W106AI with a MenzS28x10 in the nose. If you are not 100% set on building, check the World Models ARFs, they have a 1/3 J3, 1/3 Clipped Wing and a 1/3 Super Cub. The quality is very nice.

I have a 1/3 J-3 Cub from The World Models and at 28.5OZ , 1300g , i'm told it needs an 80cc Gasoline engine. i know this is a heavy plane but does it really need an engine this big ? I'm planning on doing simple slow flying. Thanks Mitchell

We have a World models super Cub with DA100, pefa canisters, JR8611 servos and Booma-rc LiFeO4 batteries. It is set up for slow flight and hovering. It will go vertical after 2 feet on the ground....no kiddin!!!I have done rolling circles and torque rolls with it. I am gentle with it though and only do low stress aerobatics. IMO, a DA50 with canister would be perfect. You will need to put everything up front though and keep the servos out of the tail. It balances perfect with the DA100 with servos in the tail. cheers Anthony

The very first 1/3 scale J3 cub, many many years ago flew beautifully with a quadra 35 ![]() But it flew just like the full size counterpart not like a cub on steroids. Roger

I am looking at this plane for a new project , I saw your plane on ASAA nice , my question if installing a DA 50 with a can (mtw 75 / mtw 75k) would the airframe (fire wall) easily accomodate this combo. ![]() Cheers BB
