Default Did carden make a 30% extra 300 kit?

Hey guys.......only reason i'm asking is , is that i was looking around on ebay and came across this ad >>>> http://cgi.ebay.com/Giant-Scale-Radi...QQcmdZViewItem

And he states it's a 30% carden? I think it's just a great planes PW 300 isn't it? or is this thing really a carden? You would think if the guy has all that money tied up into a 50cc bird , he would know what it is. I don't know carden enough to say either way.

I think it is. Carden made a 30% extra back in the day. It is an old plane though.

Yes that is a carden. Had couple of them back in the day. (93-94?)

24 lbs on an 89" span plane???

Sounds like it's from a "past era" indeed....

Nice plane, Carden 300s 30%. I have one. 24# is a little heavy for this plane. Mine is 22# but with a 3W70. That old school Sach's may be part of the extra weight. Still should fly well though. A 4.2ci is a 70cc engine not a 50cc so 24# isn't too bad for precision. Probably single bevel on the control surfaces as this was built before 3D was the rage.

And Carden (Dennis) came out with the TOC Mod Sheet the last year or two of production for this Plane, which increased the Rudder size and Elevator size. It flew like any Carden flew, perfect. The biggest gripe about this plane was the hatch opening size, very narrow. just .02 cents more ...

I built 2 of these 30% Extra's. As mentioned they are old school but they flew very well. They were designed with clam shell wings which required some labor to get the wings to fit and look correct around the fuse opening's. All done these are beautiful planes. This one pictured was 21lb's with a BME76 twin. Walt

They also made a 26% Extra 300. My friend has one. I think it's like 78" wingspan +/- I'm trying to talk him into building it and using a 42cc chainsaw for the engine. He's never built a foam sheeted wing and is a little scared. I told him it's no big deal and even offered to help him frame and sheet it. He's warming up to the idea and winter just started.

I have a 30% Carden Cap 232 still being covered.
