I'm in the market for a new edge 540T. I like Aerotech but too many folks are having trouble getting all the parts from them. If anyone has a complete kit or knows of someone that wants to get rid of one, please let me know. I'm not limited to an in the box kit. It can be partially built or ready for covering. Also, I am not limited to an Aerotech. I have no knowledge of the Aeroworks kits, and hear the Cardens aren't as builder friendly as some of the others. I have never built anything larger than a .60 size glow airframe, but have been flying a 35% yak, so I'm not an idiot. I would just prefer that my first big project be a pleasant/simple build and not something that will prevent me from ever wanting to build a giant again. Any suggestions or help locating what I'm looking for would be greatly appreciated.

I've built the Aerotech 35% Edge......there are no instructions basically.....No pictures to show you what to do, so you would be in the same boat as the Carden. Dalton has the best instructions by far (but no Edge) The aeroworks Edge is ok, but not a true Edge shape. I just finised rebuilding a 35% one that was crashed. It appears to be a little heavy (but it is an old version) Dave Fox is selling a 40% Yak (aerotech) if that might work for ya. With any kit though.....you'll find that thier is no extra wood. If you make one cut wrong or not the way they make it you'll need to buy more wood. I always planned on at least a few sheets of balsa and a few hard blocks of wood to finish off a kit. Its just the name of the game. Get with Worm and JPRC.....they are pretty good builders in your neck of the woods. I'd be glad to help if you have one this summer if they send me your way.

Thanks Sam. I just got off the phone with Worm. lol. I have a 35% yak so I don't really want another yak. I want to move up to a 40 or 42 percent and I'm hooked on an Edge. That's the problem. I'm tired of arf's because I just can't find a color sceme I like. I'd buy one built if it looked good to me and was light. It just seems that everyone has a yak or an extra. I'm not into IMAC so I just want a badass 3d machine. The Edge is the only one that still gets my attention. If I wasn't so picky, I'd already have a plane.

My vote is for the Carden Edge. The kit is complete and the owner of the co. will talk you through the build if you need that much help. There are also numerous build threads that are awsome. Save yourself the agrivation and stay away from the other kits. FWB

I agree with Woodbutcher, I built a 40 edge from Carden three years ago and had only built 60-120 size planes, great planes, sig, and lanier, the support I received from Dennis along with online help was outstanding, along with a good flat building table..... Good luck and enjoy looking for the next project, that's what I'm trying to decide on now is which Carden flavor I want this year. |

I know what you said about Cardens, but you may want to try this http://www.flyinggiants.com/swapshop...uct=6065&cat=2 There is plenty of help around here. As a matter of fact, I don't think I would hesitate (me personally) to buy any of the GS kits on the market today due to the wealth of knowledge around these parts. Just an FYI on the kit though, I just saw it this morning or last night. J. |

I would like a carden. I just hear that the kits do not have interlocking parts and you have to do most of the lightening cut outs yourself. I want something that just "snaps" together straight.

Then buy an ARF! Their is no Edge on the market like that in kit form. Or save a ton of money and try to get the Lanier Edge. You can do all the same lightening as the Carden

If that is what you want then call Carden. Ask them about the pre litened and snap together motor box parts that they are considering to offer. FWB
