Hi Guys, Just finishing my QQ 86 Yak and not sure how tight the cables should be. On smaller planes i have my rudder setup slack never had a problem, but should it be tight on the larger planes. Ive searched and cant find the answer so some advice needed please. Kindest regards Mark |

Just get the slack out and that's it. I used to think they should be guitar string tight but that's not necessary from my experience. In fact it can damage the servo and break the rudder hinges. I just eliminate the slack at center and never any issues.

I've left mine slack in my Sukhoi which is a little similar to a Yak and when my speed picks up I start to fish tail a little from lack of tension so keep them tight.

If not using a servo tray just tighten them enough to get the slack out of them, if they are too tight it can cause a side load on the servo and could possibly do damage to the gears in the long run. However don't be afraid to tighten them enough to just get the slack out and then just go maybe a 1/2 turn more, then you should be fine. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth. |

Many thanks guys, is this the same say for a smaller aircraft eg fliton aj extra, i also have this plane but am wondering if the advice i have been given from a club member is quite accurate. Or will the smaller serovs be damaged by the load. Mark |

I always use the same rule of thumb on all my servos, when using a pull-pull set up and have never had a problem. Just check them ever so often and you will have no problems.
