I decided to switch my stock rudder pull pull setup on my 2.6 comp arf 300sx to a SWB tray with crossed cables. Is there a simple way to determine exactly where the cables will will exit the fuse. I did a mockup layout on a big sheet of paper but did not get close enough for my liking after I made the first cut.

I see on my post it wont print that name, I wondered? Anyway. With your fuse upright and level (basically) at the canopy rails. Put a straight edge across the fuse and measure down from the canopy rails to your belcrank. Put a piece of masking tape on the outside of your fuse vertically in line with your belcrank (from the rail to the bottom of fuse) then, measure down on the out side of the fuse and make a mark on the tape at that distance (the measurement on my 2.6 Comp was 7 1/4"). (this shows the height of the crank on the outside). The turn the plane over and place another piece of tape on the bottom that will go between the first two (basically all the way around the bottom and sides). Measure the width of your rudder arm, lets say your rudder arm is 5", make a set of marks 2 1/2" on each side of the center of the bottom of your fuse. (this shows again where your rudder arm is but on the bottom) Then take two strings and tape one end of the string to those marks on the bottom of the plane and cross those strings to the rudder horn (like it was your cables just on the bottom of the fuse). Looking down the side of your plane, at the rear, and you will see where the cables will exit the fuse. Put another piece of masking tape on the side of the fuse here at the tail where the cable will exit and make a small vertical mark on that tape. Last take the strings and tape them to the first mark on the tape on the side of the fuse and the put the other end of the string between the horns on the rudder. ( I believe there are 2 on the SX for a ball link in between), either way, you are placing the string exactly in line where the wire would go on the rudder horn. On my 2.6 260 there is only one horn so I put the string through the hole where a clevis would go. Mark a horizontal mark here and where the two cross is where your cable will exit the fuse. I actually drilled a hole at this point and attached my cables and they were perfect. Now since the cable is on the outer most part of the rudder horn, when the rudder is moved from side the cable can only get closer, (if you look you will see that the hole where the ball link would attach moves toward the fuse no matter if you turn the rudder right or left. so you only elongate the hole in one direction, which is back. Depending on how much throw is how long you make that slot back. It is really easy but if you can figure out what I was saying where to go, check out the video. Maybe Mith will post it here as well.
