Default baffling EF yak 88"

What do you guys think about using the "louver" that comes with the kit for minimizing the air intake? I see some people do and other don't. I prefer using not but on the other hand I don't want to cut the cowl.

What did you do to enlarge the air outlet?

I flew all season last year without it. I added it this winter for one reason, and that was to strengthen the cowl. Mine was starting to crack a little. Even if you don't want to use it, I would still cut the outside ring out of it and use that to beef up the cowl a little.

Edit. For cooling, I cut out the covering on the bottom of the fuselage between the landing gear and the cowl.

I didnt put the piece in the front of my cowl. I do have a rather large air exit and it works just fine...

I did the flyin hawaiian mod for air cooling.. It involves some custom cut vents on the bottom of the fuselage.. where the pipe tunnel is right now.

I'm using the louver plate. Mine cracked after about 20 flights. An impact seemed to cause the crack because it had bug splatter all over it. I am thinking of painting it flat black, because it just looks a little too much like a paper plate. Does anyone have any pictures of red/white yak with the louvers painted?

I have seen them "unpainted" and think maybe some black paint will make it look much nicer

I'm sure the plastic is probably a nightmare to paint.. Try to get some bulldog adhesion promoter. It is what I use to paint heli canopies. It makes the paint stick better. You also might hit chris up and buy a black one if it looks better.

Here are some pics of my vents I did to promote air flow. Thanks to FH for the idea.
