What is it? QQ Yak 85" What size is it? 50CC What size motor did you use? DA50 What did you have to do to it to get it flying great? Just Balanced it right Trim? No trim Adjustments? Nothing Construction alterations? Nothing What equipment do you have in it ? 8611s, DA50, Fromeco 4800 and Reli-regulator and 2500 NIMH for ignition How is the plane responding to the equipment? Incredible Is it a great IMAC plane? I'm not an IMAC flyer, can't say for sure Is it a BAD AS 3D plane? It is without a doubt the most BAD ASS 3D BEAST I have ever had. Flies Extremely light, stable, responsive and has made me a lot better pilot with no exaggeration. It's funny that when I pop it in hover, it almost locks up with keeping the throttle. Rolling harriers are a lot easier to do and DA50 has lots and lots of authority. Is it both??? I think it should be both.

| Ok Guys I didn't know this is going to be a stand alone thread. If you are putting one together and have problem just shoot me an email. Most likely I can answer any questions on building this plane. I can post pictures of mine if you needed also. Good Luck and any questions are welcome.

Reza, I think this plane is just beautiful. This plane is on my short list (Two only) to buy next. The other is Aeroworks QB yak thats on the way in. Not sure I will be called to be able to buy that plane. This would be my first gas plane. How dificlt is the build process on the QQ as compared to the aeroworks Yak? I guest that my major consern since it will be my first larger size plane.

Hi Eddie, The 85" is not really difficult to build. AW Yak comes hinged but on QQ you need to do the hinging. You may have to spend few extra hours on the QQ yak to build but no big deal. It is absolutley the best flying plane I have ever had. Words can't describe how well it flies. I will be posting some pics from inside of my plane. Also go to my website, I have a video of a 102" flying. The 85" flies really similar with similar power to weight ratio. Check it out. www.gholamipour.com/rcplanes Please let me know if I could help you any further. Thank you, Reza

I built one of these Yaks Last fall and to tell you the truth the quality leaves a little to be desired for the cost. The manual that comes with the plane to me was almost useless. The biggest help the manual was to me was setting the plane up for flight,Not for building. The kit itself as far as workmanship is run of the mill a person can pick any companys ARF's apart. No fuel tank mount or tray included with the kit..WTF for that money it should be there. No throttle mount ot tray or even a discription of where to mount with 3w or DA engines. The canopy and hatch need to have mods done to them to make sure you dont loose them in flight. Make sure to add balsa runners across the hatch or it will buckle in KE flight and pop off, Be sure to reglue the canopy to the frame and add red canopy tape to the lower edge. Over drill the front pins and add fuel tubing over them it really helps knock down on vibration on the hatch. The cowl the stock grommet set up that come with the plane works for about 50 flights then the cowl cuts them in half and its metal on fiberglass, guess what wins I am still looking for a good cowl mount for this plane to date i have tried 3 diff ways and still have to retighten after every other flight..Damn shaking DA 50 hard to make em run smooth as a boxer engine. Mind you none of the above is that big a deal and can be rectified in about 3 hours one more thing be sure to check the glue joints on the elevator in the fuse both mine came loose after a couple of gallons Now onto the best part about this plane is it does fly really sweet for an 85" airframe it can do all the tricks it's big brother can and then some with no ill handling effect that i have noticed, It's slow speed handing is really well with a min of wing rock in a harrier,KE flight is good with a lil mixing needed all in all it's a good ARF a little high on price but a very nice flying package.. Just one persons HO |

Xipp, Sorry to hear that you had to go through all that. Given QQ Aircraft is a new company they are facing some random manufaturing problems but they are trying hard and doing their best to have better quality control in china. Canopies have been fixed they sit perfect now, mine didn't have any problem. Still you need to make the tank tray and throttle tray which are not really hard. If you look at the TOC Yak you even have to build the rudder tray for it. By first week of April a new and more detailed manual with DA50 installation instruction will be released. Glue joints always need to be checked on any plane that is built overseas. I hear your problems and I feel you but man the way this plane flies is just incredible! On a positive side of it I appreciate the great design that Quique and Wayne have done. I feel I am a different pilot with this plane! Also as far as price goes, shipping normally runs around $100. Mine was $110 to California and when you deduct that from $740 it brings it down to $640. You are right it is on high side of price range in market but not very off as mostly they go from $575-$650 anyways. Thanks for the heads up on some of the possible problems. My kit wasn't as bad as yours but yet I had to make a tank tray and a throttle tray. The throttle tray only took 15-20 minutes but tank tray did take longer.

It would be nice if the firewall was already scribed for engine location. I know that with the Yaks, people can and might put the engine out further from the front of the cowl. But a starting point and maybe a chart for any additional offset for every 1/8" further forward you go or something. As for instructions, download a manual for one of the new Aeroworks kits and see what a detailed, easy-to-understand manual is all about. Having built several different types of planes and having lot's o experience, I pretty much only read the parts in this manual about measurements. Other than that, I gained nothing from it, except for the radio set-up part - that is quite useful...

Hi ucdosg, This is the link to the new manual http://www.qqaircraft.com/html/downloads.html#85yak with over 70 pics. If you couldn't find the picture you were looking for please let me know where you want me to take pics from. The plane with DA50 in the manual is mine and I can provide you with any further detail that you may be interested in. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. BTW, Welcome to Flying Giants! Reza
