| Recieved my big extra from AI a week or so ago. Looks fantastic, very similar to my 35% comp-arf in construction. If your into composites put this one on your list. The instruction manual was a little weak on the technical side so if you have never messed with comps before you may have to do a little researching. (HITS) It comes with a gorgeous carbon fiber spinner, tail wheel assembley, composite pilot and a custom pull/pull servo tray with a bearing style bell crank, laminated with honeycomb, carbon fiber and plywood and a custom engine box for the 3W 212b4 that will pull this bad boy. Gel coat finish is top notch as well as the control horns wich are pre installed on all control surface. The finest slop free(phenolic) control surfaces I've seen on a composite yet, much larger hinge rods and hinges than I've seen on even the best 40%'s. Comp-Arf could take a lesson here. (MISSES) Maybe I'm old fashioned but I just can't believe that anyone would send out a top end plane like this with pop bottles for gas and smoke tanks, that was a shocker. Maybe they work but not in my plane! They managed to mount one of the stab retaining bolt plates on the top of the stab instead of the bottom so I have to squeeze a new one in the right spot, minor but a little anoying considering the price, stuff like that should not happen on high end models. Also I felt the fit of the wings could have been a better , I know that there is usualy a little sanding to fit them but there is a 3mm gap at the front of each wing and thats a little more work but I'll get it to fit up. All in all a good rig with nice workmanship except for what I mentioned above. REMEMBER (NEVER RUN OUT OF AIRSPEED, ALLTITUDE AND IDEAS AT THE SAME TIME!) |

That's a good choice!! This is probably the most popular 40% in Poland............just because it's produced in Poland!! One of them has towed a 24,6 feet glider (50%).

If you run out of steam with the 212, then I have the perfect powerplant for you, Roger

Thinking EVO 300 Roger? Don't have a 212b4 on the bench yet! Could still explore other power plants. I checked your site and specs on the big EVO and it woud fit my plane no problem. But I 'm a little concerned with the obvious, WEIGHT how heavy with the ign. and exhaust(mag version)? Can you get it with stock Mufflers rather than pipes and headers? What do the rest of you Giants think? Too much horsepower for a 44% Extra? 32HP vs 21HP? ?lbs vs 14lbs?

The 3w should be enough power. As I mentioned before the one I have seen was not only towing that glider (I think that it weighed 25kgs-55lbs), but also hovering with it!!! But there was no pull out. It was powered by zdz 210.
