It will be another Composite-ARF for sure, these are the airframes i am looking into, although I will not be purchasing one for a few months. 3m Yak Another 3m Extra 260 2.7m Pitts S-12 my wife likes the S-12 and I have fellings for the 260, which one would be a great 3-D and IMAC plane??? |

I think the Yak would be a better IMAC plane but does not 3d as well...The extra also is good at IMAC..and it is good at 3D...The S12 scares me...too may flying wires and too long to setup at the field..probably 3ds well...but I cant imagine it being a good IMAC plane. But..the S-12 is a great looking plane...and there are not many of them around..

My vote for a competition airframe. 1st - Extra 260 very well proven airframe. 1st equal YAK 3M new on the scene, this year should see it perform for the first full season. 2nd PITTS. Looks very nice but not a popular choice for competition use. They all 3D |

kiwi what makes it not a popular choice for compitition? I wish composite-ARF would come out with an Ultimate, that would be the shiz-nit |

They are a proper B to setup at the field, they use more servos than those walking dancing robots. Try just eight on ailerons for a start. To set them up and get the coupling out is just a beast. Mine is heavy as I used a 3W212 four banger in it so that may have some impact on setup. Getting the aileron differential so your rolls dont have a belly in them is just not easy. Dont get me wrong, its a great flying cool as hell looking airplane but if your dead set serious on competition I suggest just one wing. You will buy me a beer for that little bit of advise. But YAk or 260 you can toss a coin. They are both very very good and competitive airframes. |

I'm not sure really on the competition part for the S-12, I have the 3m 260 for that, just want something that looks and flies super bad a$$, my wife really likes the python paint job, I am on the same page as with the flying wires and amount of servos, how well do you like the elevator setup as far as the carbon fiber push rods? I know why they did it like that, no room in the elev, for the servos, I am thinking along the lines of the flying giant scheme on the next plane but instead of the white I would like to see some yellow, i don't know but I just have a thing for some yellow on a plane, not trying to take anything away from the red, white and blue just think it would have a cooler look if it was yellow and not white. P.S. I would buy the beer anyway |

Eagle, I have dual 5995's inside the elevators, no carbon push rods. Its actually not too hard to do, you just need to be brave enough to hack a hole in each elevator. I can dig out the photos if you like. If you already have a 260 then I 'm talking to the converted. The PITTS is a hoot machine. But its a show plane, not a performer. With a DA170 or equivalent I suspect it will haul the mail, a 150 is really not enough for it. Also go with good fast centering servos. 9152"s on the wing. 9156's in the elevator and the same 9156's on rudder. I have a Seiko and it tends to not center really well sometimes. But man does it have some torque. That bugger will chop your finger off if you get it in the wrong place. |

The S-12 with the flag scheme has been my dream-plane for quite a while... but I think Kiwi just burst my bubble! I'm not a competitive flyer, and it would make ABSOLUTELY no sense for me, but it is an great looking plane. I guess if you're considering a competition plane, the Yak or Extra would be a toss-up. |

I would go with the DA-170 (if it ever hits the shelf) on pipes I think, the 260 I am flying is loaded completely with 9156 on all serfaces, but I did not go with 3 on aileron or 4 on rudder or two for elev, has plenty of power with 3 on rud, 2 on ail, and 1 on elev

That servo setup is the exact same as my new YAK. 2 Aileron, 3 Rudder (9155) and 1 each elevator. I'm like you and want a 170 in this one right or wrong. However pick up the phone and call DA to see when you can get a 170. You might be surprised at how close they are. Reyn, dont let me burst your bubble on the S12. If your NOT going to compete with it then thats even better. Seriously its a wow type of aeroplane, its a chick magnet, if you want a show off toy thats the one but the paint job is whats special with the PITTS, its a model you can be very creative with. |

The more I look at the S-12 the more I like the plane, I know setup would be a pain but I like a good challenge. Even though I do not like the round fuse if a yak, I am almost liking the lines of the plane. of course the 260 has grown on me also. As I said before it will be close to fall before I make my mind up |
