I know there are several of you out there flying the YAK 54 in the 75cc size from Aero Works ( I just purchased one). I would be very interested in your thoughts on Engine and smoke muffler and Electrical Set-Up. I am a Desert Aircraft fan, but would be interested in their and other engines that work well in this airframe. Would like to fly this one with a smoke system, so if you have a good working system, let me know what smoke pump and muffler you are using. My normal electrical set up for giants is a Sport Smart Fly with Lithium Ions (Relions), 2 ea 2400's for the receiver and one with regulator for the ignition using the fiber optic cut-off from the Smart Fly board. I use 3 JR heavy duty switches for the Ignition and each battery. I can check volts between flights this way and avoid removing the canopy. Anyone have a better idea(s)? Ideas and building tips will sure be appreciated. Thanks Mike

I've seen this airframe with a zdz super 80 and it had outstanding power and performance without a smoke system. I am sure it would have flown well with smoke but you would pay a weight/performance penalty on this size of airframe. I quit smoke on planes less than 100cc cause of the performance penalty. I like a 32 ounce smoke tank minimum to really put on a good smoke show and that adds fat weight too smaller airframes. 1.5 to 2 pounds wet!!

Stacy: I am not totally sold on smoke, just one of those "wishes". I really did not consider the difference the weight might add. Basically I want solid aerobatic performance. Thanks for the info. Mike

Hmmm, someone has been making large leaps from just a couple months ago flying a big stick! It sounds like you are having big fun with your new gassers. Just wait until we turn you into a 40% snob. ![]() ![]() I jumped over the 75cc class and 100 class. I will be interested in hearing how you like this class of plane. Having it fit in the back of your pickup is a plus for ease of flying. Post pics!

Jim: I sure have and the big gassers are a joy to fly. Here are a couple of pictures of the Python and I'll post one in a few weeks of the Yak 54. E85G5171_resize.JPG E85G5173_resize.JPG I would like to get into something larger than the 75cc Yak, but it means buying a trailer and facing the fuel costs I'll probably do it in a year or so anyway.Mike
