Default Yak 54 100cc from china

Hi gang,

I have been reading about this YAK 54 at www.starweifly.com

They are chinese made and I was wondering if anyone has any experince with these airplanes.

Are they any good? One of them looks just like the Aeroworks YAK 54 100cc.

Thanks.

Will

Ps. If I die, please don't let my wife to sell my planes for the same amount of money I told her I paid for.

hi, we're pretty close to china and see a lot of these planes over here. most of these 'generic' type planes do have a lot of issues but if you are willing to deal with them, i guess you would be fine. just to cite an example here. that ultimate that they have on that website you posted comes out really really heavy. the lower wings do not line up with the fuse on both sides so that there is a gap in between the wing and the fuselage and also holds true with the top wing when joined together. i remember holding the rudder in hand and that thing was heavy. the rudder itself looked like it was cutout of hardwood of some sort. you could use the rudder and smash it into someone's face and that thing probably would not break. someone has also had a yak54 of that same scheme but runs on a 50cc engine. the owner had issues with the plane coming out real tail heavy so he had to add about 2 pounds of weight in the nose just to get it balanced out. the result, the yak came in at 19lbs with a da50 engine on it. to make things worse, the landing gear on this yak wasn't forward swept (ugly) so the plane would frequently nose over.

i also do purchase planes from china but i am very picky with what i get. there are a few manufacturers out there that do come out with quality stuff and you just might be surprised at who they produce model planes for.

I realize that most airplanes are built in China, I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this company in particular.

I see that some planes can come with problems (tail heavy, poor landing gear etc) do you know about any other chinese manufacture?

It is crazy to purchase giants here in Canada, it is way cheapper for me to buy them from the US but I am curious about getting them directly from China

Thanks guys for your inputs.

Cheers

Will

I sent an email and they got back to me with the price.
Yak 54 50cc was $255 or so.
Yak 54 100 cc was around $480.

These prices don't include shipping.

Cheers

I have this yak54 100CC under construction ( http://www.acsl-modelisme.fr/Aero-ar...spx?content=43 ) from this factory. 2 other guys here in France have also one (no flew yet), the problem is that there is no quality checking and there is a lot of difference between 2 kits, for example the total weight difference between my yak and other is 1kg (2,205 lb, the main difference is on the landing gear, mine is 1kg and the other is 0.5Kg).
The price is low, i got it for 450 euros (include shipping and custom) directly from China. This is the third planes i have directly from china at low price (no company name on the kit), and each time the quality is poor but price also.
For information i had also a Yak QQ and Extra 260 Airwild which are top quality airplanes, so i can make difference...
I know that my next 100cc airplane will be from a well know company.
