Default X-Treme Composite BVM Edge 2.6

I just could not resist a blow out sale on a couple of BVM edges. I bought the 2.6 and 2.2. I am having buyers remorse on the 2.2 but again the deal was to good to pass up. I posing this question to anyone who has had a 2.6 composite edge. The factory is running a 3W, and BVM recomends a DA. I am not to brand loyal at this point, I have BME, DA, and 3W and they all work. But in the 100 cc range the DA & BME have big weight advantages. Anyone know if this plane builds for a light or heavier engine. If I need to move things forward I will get the heavier engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have one with a DA-100. It comes in just a tad heavy.. 27 pounds, but a DA-100 is ripping a 28x10 prop all day long with it. I have cans on mine, and the plane is designed and balanced to have cans installed.

You mentioned a blow out sale... how good?

I actually had a less than perfect landing with mine this afternoon... now I need a left wing and possibly new wheel pants. Other than that, this has been a terriffic plane to own and fly.

I can't recall if it is this plane but one of the comp planes had an issue with the longer 3W. It may have been the older comp-arf extra. As was asked, what kind of blow out deal did you get???

Any of those engines will fit. I have mounted both a BME115 and a 3W106. My stand off's range from about 3/4" to 2".
All I did was to move the batteries behind the canopy or to the front of the canopy.

I bought 2 for the price of one. They have a yellow and the red left in stock. I bought a castrol and a fantasy. I am most likely going DA 100, but i would like to put the 3W. Tough economy prices are going to drop on all this stuff. I am seeing deals all over for giant scale stuff.

I had a much less then perfect landing with mine last week... crunched up the left wing a bit.

I finished glassing and patching it up today, now I need to get a few test flights on it, then re-paint it.

Good deal, the edge is an awesome plane. I'm looking forward to getting another one in the air again. My old one was running a DA-100 with MTW mufflers and weighed in at 26 pounds. Tons of power with that setup!

Yeah, this was a real bummer. I was working with knife edge mixes, finally got it going both ways with just rudder input, then I started to dial in a little down elevator on my "landing" throttle setting (it always wants to come in nose up).. I was trying to make my final turns lower and slower, and just ran out of speed about a foot off the ground (stupid).

Anyway, your earlier post about fixing your rudder and fuse give me some inspiration. I would up cutting a chunk out of the very end of the wing, then I put a piece of foam in the wing to give it the correct shape. I glassed over that, sanded, sanded, sanded, primed, sanded some more, now its ready to fly again. I had some white paint on hand, so I went ahead and painted the bottom of the wing, turned out pretty good.

I hate to get colors mixed just to paint the top side... I'll need the orange, blue and yellow... probably spend $200 between paint, activator and clear just to paint less than a square foot!

I had to put 2 ounces in the other wing to balance it out... I never balanced it laterally before the crash, but it had to be pretty close... so I guess overall, I gained 1/4 pound between the repair and added weight.

I was thinking about the repair so much, I forgot to order a new prop.. that should be here Tuesday... but I'll be in North Carolina.. I should get it back in the air before the weekend.

Did you see that BVM has a sale on some of the schemes? $895 is sure tempting!

I picked up the Fantasy Scheme 2.6 Edge about a month ago for $990 out the door. I'm going to put a DL100 on the front for power.

I see they've still got the same dumbass doing the black airbrushing around the checkerd flags. The airbrush job on these planes was MUCH better a few years ago. Still a great flying plane, though.

Nice job on the repair, I know what you mean about all the sanding - last night I finished priming the wheel pants for my Katana. They were pretty tore up and took a lot of filling and sanding to get them looking good again. Later today I'll shoot some color on them and see how they look.

Yep... it all looks fine until you hit it with some color! I'm glad I spent some time (way) back in high school working on cars that I wrecked!
