Default Hangar 9 sukhoi wing failure

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE:Horizon just called me, they are sending free of any charge a new in the box 35% extra 260, WOW, NOW THATS WHAT I CALL GREAT SERVICE I will gladly continue using horizon. thanks amillion.I just wanted every one to know how disappointed i am with hangar 9. One of our elderly club members just went and bought a nos v1 hangar9 sukhoi from the LHS. He already had a new bme 102, hitec 5955 servos and lipo battery system ready for this airplane. To make a long story short the plane was test flown Sunday 2 weeks ago.I Took the plane off and immediately noticed that the right hand wing flexed really bad, I landed the plane. We inspected the wing and found that covering had busted and the wing was in pretty bad shape. The following monday I called horizon, I gave the CSR the story he told me that sense they no longer make that plane or parts, just send the entire plane back he would give me 850.00 credit and i would have to pay shipping. GREAT. It costed almost 200.00 to ship the old plane back. Once they received the plane, they called me and said sense I used the bme 102 instead of that big heavy zenoah gt 80 that there was nothing they could do. Now we have a 799.00 (999.00 with shipping back) that we cant even fly.

I WAS AT THE FIELD WHEN THIS PLANE WAS TEST FLOWN. THE WING DID FLEX, I SEEN IT, AND IT WAS BROUGHT IN, I WAS THERE AND I BELIEVE HANGER NINE IS JUST TRYING TO WEASEL OUT OF HELPING A 15+ YEAR LOYAL CUSTOMER. THEY DID NOT EVEN ASK WHAT ENGINE WAS USED UNTILL AFTER MY FRIEND HAD PAID $200 TO SHIP IT BACK !!!! I BELIEVE H9 SHOULD HAVE ASKED WHAT ENGINE WAS USED BEFORE IT WAS SHIPPED BACK, INSTEAD OF USING THIS AS A PLOY TO RIPP OFF THERE CUSTOMERS, SHAME ON YOU H9 !!!!!!! HOPE YOU ENJOY SPENDING MY FRIENDS $1000

LOL! They didn't want to refund because you used a BME 102 rather than a paper wieght? Dang, that's quite strange. I do believe though, that this plane IS rated for up to 100cc?

I ALSO CALLED H9 AND EXPLAINED THAT THE PLANE WAS ONLY TEST FLOWN. NOT MUCH STRESS WAS PUT ON THE WING, PLANE WAS TRIMMED AND LANDED. BUT THE RIBS WERE BROKE WHEN IT CAME BACK. AND I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THE GT 80 COULD STRESS THE PLANE JUST AS MUCH AS THE 102. IT LOOKED LIKE THEY USED BAD BALSA AND WONT STAND BEHIND THEYRE PRODUCT. THEY ADMITTED THEY SHOULD HAVE ASKED ABOUT THE ENGINE PRIOR TO HAVING IT SHIPPED BACK, AND OFFERED TO SHIP THE JUNK PLANE BACK TO US. OR GIVE MY FRIEND A $100 DISCOUNT. I JUST HOPE THEY SEE THE ERROR IN THEY'RE WAYS AND OFFER MY FRIEND AT LEAST 1/2 HIS MONEY BACK. NOT MUCH FOR HIS DEDICATION TO THEM THOUGH, THEY ALSO SAID THEY REALLY DID NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING, I BELIEVE IF THIS TURNS SOUR I WILL SPEND MY CASH ELSEWHERE

You've made it public so it already has turned sour. Might as well start shopping elsewhere now, unfortunately.

Was this the old orange/red sukhoi? I put mine through tons of stress and no problems here. I flew it like you should fly a over powered airplane. I flew mine with a gt80 then switched to a 3w106. GT80 was perfect combination actually you just didnt have as much power in a hover. Did everything else fine.
Never mention you had a over powered motor on the plane or else they wont help you. A friend of mine was flying his with a BME and his wing exploded and they didnt do a thing due to it was a bme 102 or w/e

Very unfortunate. Although the plane probably should have had a smaller motor, it was obviously defective (broken) from the start. Good customer relations should dictate replacing the plane at no charge, including shipping. The old saying applies: "It takes years to build customer loyalty, and minutes to loose it". Mostly the problem is some 50C per hour weenie on the customer phones who doesn't give a s#*t about us or our hobby.
Have you tried to contact of Mike McConnville and explain the situation?

I'm sure they didn't actually say scr$w off. I understand you being upset about this but I bet if you look in the front of the manual it says what engine range to use, and if you don't follow the recommended engine range you're going to void any kind of warranty. Most companies work that way, it doesn't always make everyone happy but that's the way it is. An example would be using more than 6 volts on a servo that isn't rated for that. I hope you can come to some kind of agreement, they are a great company, good luck.
