I am thinking about building this plane with my son this winter does anyone have any experience with this plane ? What was the RTF weight ? I have onlt seen a couple of aerotech planes at our field in the past and both were on the heavy side.

You are in luck.....I have one and I believe I put a thread on here. If not I do have some construction pics on my computer. smoke on.jpg Things I would change. -cut lightening holes in the stabs and rudder -cut lightening holes in the bottom foam from the back of the hatch to the tail. -not waste my time building the hatch for the tailweel -make the ailerons slightly larger than the plans (only slightly). -Get a CF wingtube -make it acceptable to cans, even if you don't use them -you may lighten up the motorbox but I don't think it needs it. Mine came out right around 29lbs with smoke. It was also tailheavy. I also built it per the plans and the hatch goes from the cowl to the rudder. I really liked mine. Its currently sitting in the garage waiting for me to finish installing radio gear for its remaiden after the prop expolded in flight. Let me know if you need anything specific. At the bottom is a Power Point file with more pics 100_3915.jpg fuse2.jpg maiden1.jpg rigging4.jpg Picture 077.jpg Edge 540.ppt It's also true that Aerotech has had some issues lately and many were flogged here on FG and were justified as such. I have 2 planes from them (before there were problems). Both are outstanding and like a Carden, it can be heavy. Just think about things before you build it. Use glue where it is needed and lightening things that you can. The plane will only fly as good as you build it.

I've bought 2 planes in the last 6yrs. Neither had free shipping. I do remember a time when the company offered free shipping but I didn't order at that time and it has not been that way for the last 5 years. If you plan to order.....I would do a CC and if it doesn't arrive within 2 weeks of the charge you need to CNX it. If it arrives incomplete then you are in a different boat. If you cnx and send the plane back then you are out the return shipping money. If you keep it and are out parts then you've lost money. I would like to think you could CNX the charge and then minus the cost of missing parts and send a check in but that is probably not legal. Another option you have is to get the PAU 35% Edge and strip it down and recover or ask them to order you one in the next shipment uncovered (if they can). I was under the impression you already had a kit to begin with. I wish Aerotech had run its business differently as I really like my planes but they have disappointed a great many folks in the past couple of years. Maybe they are trying to turn around, maybe not.

Oh, and as for my scheme. I designed that myself. It is solid yellow monokote. The black is actually Carbon Fiber vinyl that I had a buddy cut out the designs I created. The cowl was originally painted yellow and white and I placed CF vinyl checkers on it. I've since had to do a new cowl and I painted the checkers black when I did the white and yellow.
