Albert,
Not sure of distance to the Poconos even if that is the general area you are from, but maybe it's 4 hrs.
To give you an idea where I live, it's just 3 miles north from the last exit in Pa of I-80 before you cross into Ohio. It is mile marker 4.
I have been getting plently of guys switched over to Cardens and we fly almost every weekend when the weather finally breaks from the high wind. Maybe we have to look into getting together some time. I was out helping a few guys yesterday, but did not fly due to my 12 hr work shifts.

Are there any more outlet vents in the cowling? I only see one small one at the bottom.

I think thats the nicest wood plane I have ever seen. Of course I would have put in different servos and stuff but when it comes to airframe, landing gear, paint job..... that plane kicks ass.

Anymore, the Aerobatic planes are all done so good, that something has to be done to put you ahead in the judges mind. That is why he also cut all the graphics out of Monokote also.
By the way, I have not weighed the cowling as of yet, but when he has done my Extra cowlings out of wood in the past, they weigh in all finished with covering Less then the fiberglass cowling with the ply parts and glass work before they are put together.
He is a craftsman.

I kinda of figured that might be the reason.

hey uncle joe i personally think that plane was sub par !!! i think you should bring it to nall and let that damn yankee Jay maybe give ya 3 grand for it. He suckered a guy out of a new carden edge a few years back. Maybe youll get lucky and he will buy this one too. Well until Nall see ya buddy ill bring the hot dogs again this year as long as you dont start a fight over the tents again . I cant keep bailing you out. !!!!!!

guess who

Edge 540,
Well, the only other exit for air is at the cannister muffler exit. I am thniking that with the air dam in the cowling restricting the air from filling the big cowling, that what I have should be good.

Jeeum,
Building the cowling like this is the biggest reason, so he can use Monokote. After having him build 4 other Carden Extras with wood cowling, I like them over the glass ones. I have had zero issues with the wood constructed cowlings. There goes my luck......Knock, Knock...On some wood ??????

Yaks are BeSt,
Thanks for the kind words, It's not that I don't build a good airframe, but when I see this guys work with building, he make me feel that I have just learned to glue two sticks together. We have really shared ideas on building. A few year back, he approached us about building a plane for my nephew and the following years, I have had some surgeries happened during my building season, so he has done my building for the last few planes. I have just started to build a new Carden 260 myself to get back into the groove again. Can't wait to fly the Yak.

youngflyr,
There is no reason that you can't one day. Don't give up your dream.

Wayne,
Thanks for noticing. I think that he wanted to try to hide all the glue joints and different color woods that can show up under certain color coverings, With this all done before hand, you don't see that very fine line from the leading and trailing edges along with the edge caps showing up on the covering. As for the area for the helper, it is our hope that this adds a littler more strength in the helper then the wood for the cap stopping at the hinge line. There is nothing wrong with the way Carden designed it, but this guy is always trying to look at things different.

Super Jay,
What can I say to you, but LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GET YOUR NEXT GOOD DEAL. you only get one good steal, I mean deal from me. It was good talking to you that short time at Toledo. We will talk and fight for our tent space more at Nall this year with a little more help from you. Tell Don, I will see you guys then.
