Ok guys I just bought this plane, and would like your opinion. It has a 3.2 Sachs engine in it which I understand is a 52cc engine. The plane is an Extra 300 I think. I was told it is made by One Design and was kit built and was never finished. The wing span is 80" and the fuseluge is 75" from cowl back. Has a 20-8 prop on it. Has 4-Futaba 9202, 2 in wings and 2 on elevators and a Hitech Hs-61-MG on rudder. Throttle has a FMA 300 on it. Has a tank in it to. How much is this plane worth? Did I get a good deal?

don't try to land too slow,80 inchs and a 50 motor will be a little heavy on the wings, but if you like it who cares what others may think haha fly the heck out of it

Doesn't matter what ya paid for it, do YOU like it ? For a One Design 80 inch span it is at least a 30% and the 3.2 should work fine. And nowadays your buds at the field won't have one and that's worth something ! Bet it tumbles well. I like it.

P40 Maniac, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some see an odd-looking plane with an ancient-looking engine that simply MUST be so out of date as to be worthless. Others will look beyond that and see a very powerful German-made engine (Mahle jug/piston/crank with American-made crankcase) with a CH ignition that will be very smooth and consistent; an airplane with distinctive lines that is, most importantly, NOT a Yak or Extra; with strong, straight, and light foam wings; a real piece of American craftsmanship; and a good all-around design. When we start seeing more models of the full-scale Slick coming out it is possible that Dan Rihn's One Design will get a bit more attention. The design of the Slick is undeniably influenced by the One Design (as well as the revolutionary Loudenslager Laser and the Extra 230/260). The full-scale One Design is a TINY airplane, even much smaller than a Giles 202 or 300. This 80" span model of yours is closer to 35% scale (full scale 19'2" ws, 17' fuse, fully aerobatic on the Lycoming 0-350 150hp engine). I say, just enjoy the plane. Make it YOURS. It will certainly be unlike anything else you see at the flying field. Post a video of it sometime... Brett p.s. This is likely built from an Ultrasport Hobbies kit. |

Heck, If the engine isnt trashed and it runs yer almost worth 300. Sachs makes a damn good jug. Last forever even with a few fin pieces missing. The one design is a fair bird for 300 get out there and huck it like ya don't care.. its only 300 bucks!!! Fly that thing!! and dont worry about what other folks think if it works for ya than its your gain!!! I have flown a few of these they are not bad for knife edge flight. Not the lightest airplane in the world but hey 300 bucks is 300 bucks... Oh a word of caution watch that ignition ground shielding make sure that it is making contact to ground. It will keep the RF noise out of your FM rcvr. Ronster |
