Default How many people need parts for a Thunder Tiger/TOC airplane?

I was wondering how many people out there need parts for a Thunder Tiger/TOC, used to be SD Models, airplane. Yak, Extra or what ever. I have talked to several modelers like myself that have been calling Ace Hobby or their local dealer for months trying to get a part. I have got the same "call back next month" with Ace hobby since August.

I need a elevator half. This would be a 20 minute fix but without it, my plane may as well be totaled.

Tom at Valley View RC, where I purchased this plane, has been most helpful and is the only person I have found to be concerned over the lack of parts.

I feel the TOC airplanes are THE best line of giant scale ARF's out there. I would reccomend them to anyone. But, since i'm not perfect, and I tend to play with my toys too hard, I will have to consider service as a key factor in my next giant scale purchase.

Maybe some of you have suggestions on who to buy planes from that can be kept going with good service and parts support.

You cound make elevator half in one or two evenings, I would not wait for them. Cowl and canopy is different, but elevator half is so simple.

I guess I got spoiled. Back when Troy Built Models had the TOC line you could get any part that was needed.

I spoke with Rocky at Tucson and he told me he had a few cowls and the likes in stock for the old 35% 260 I have. In fact I just asked him by email an hour ago if he still has it and when can it be shipped.

I'm pretty sure they were working hard at getting some stock in and I will report back as soon as I get a hold of him.

FYI - I ordered a cowl for 35% Yak (orange paint scheme with black/white checks) and it arrived 4 days later for $83 plus shipping. This was from Ace in California.

I tried to speak to Rocky this morning and Johnathan told me he was in a meeting. Johnathan says that a container of parts is coming in December 15. The only problem is that's what they told me in August and again in October.

I am also in need of a canopy. I'm sure Rocky will be able to help though. He is a good guy.
