31.5% Staudacher Plumming

Ok guys I have made some posts in my build thread but no one replyed. So I decided to bring my questions out to the open.

I am using a Dubro 32oz fuel tank along with a 24oz smoke tank. There is not enough room to mount them side by side flat.

Qustions:
1. Can I mount the Fuel and smoke tanks on their side facing forward? I need to do this so I can keep both over the CG.

2. I am plaining on running 5/32 Tyogn tubing for all fuel line and smoke line, is this large enough?

3. For the last bit of smoke line at the head I am plaining on using Neopene tubing.
How far back towards the Pump sould I use Neopene?

4. Any other set up sugestions in this department would be great!

As long as you are away from the muffler heat with the tygon it should be ok i usually run the black neopreme 3 or 4 inches next to the fitting of muffler and yes you can lay the tanks as you described no problem just make sure your vent line is still at the top of tank and mark them so you know which is clunk and which is vent . Hope this helps

# 1 I always mount the fuel and smoke tanks on the side, I don't see any issues as long as the vent is on top.
# 2 I use Dubro # 506, it's the large and not the Xlarge
# 3 few inches will do

You will find that the fuel tank is too big. Use a 24 oz fuel tank also. I've flown my Staudacher with a BME 105 on a 24 oz tank for a long time and I always have 1/2 to 1/3 of a tank of fuel left with a 10 to 12 minute flight. I started buying fuel tubing from cycle shops. Its the same stuf they use on motorcycles and snowmachines. 3/16" line works great on the 100cc motors and the 1/8" tubing works great on 50cc. I use a 1" piece of regular silicone glow fuel tubing on the muffler nipple, then run the smoke line to it. I've been running smoke for many years now and have never had one slip off with this method. Tanks mounted on there side work just as good as flat, just check your stoppers from time to time!!
