I bought a 35% Edge kit from a private party for a very reasonable price. I'm looking for info on the kit itself, not the company. From the research I've done so far, it looks like Aerotech has a sketchy past. I'm wondering if the product is any good? Please don't turn this into an Aerotech bashing thread unless it's in regard to the product.

There have been one or two at our club over the years. Like any kit, it is easy to build it heavy. Pay attention to keeping it light, build it straight, and it should fly excellent. It may be worth your while to research some of the BBW threads for some lightening ideas. Craig |

Walt did build Puckett's Yak. The plane took a lot of work to get it light and right but It does fly well.

Knowing the Aerotech kits better than anyone except for John himself, all his kits are easy to make lite. If it's an older kit, it might not have all the new mods that have been done to make it lighter. With it being a 35% kit, the wings should be 1/16 balsa. Also take the aluminum wing and stab tube and replace them with carbon. You can also core the belly pan and take some weight out there. Let me know if I can help. Rob

Build light? My yaks came out at 46lbs with a 160 on cans and 50lbs with a 210 on cans. Carbon spinners on both, lithiums, single receivers, single elevator servos, dual aileron servos and dual rudder servos. Carbon tubes. Not sure how you can go any lighter. I even swapped out alot of wood. They do fly well but you can really feel the weight in the snaps.

I'm building two 40% Sukhoi-26 with all the new mods and all hand picked wood by me and I bet I can keep it around 39 to 40lbs with no problem. One is for me the other is for Mike Badger. That thread will start in January. Rob
