Just wondering if any one has put a Saito 180 in Somenzinis 22% Yak 54? I'm probably gunna order that just for some thing to fly every weekend or do you guys just think i should save up and buy the 32% one? I saw one fly out at my field and OMG they fly AMAZINGLY GOOD! i fell in love with it! but having 2 33% ers in boxs already my dad would get pissed if he found out i was saving up for that one. he would be like " you got 2 already! why won't you save up to buy the motors and electronics etc etc" ahh might just get the 22% after thinking about it lmao cause i have all the stuff for it....soo any one know if this plane will fly good with a 180 or do I really need a YS 140? Thanks. Danny |

| It's official, thanks Verne... ![]() | Should fly good, I think it's close to the same size as the Showtime and that flies good with the Saito 150

I currently fly the 72", 10.5LBs, i have OS 1.60FX has lot's of thrust w/18x6W apc, switched to 17x10N hovers just a tad over half, needed more propwash for falling torqueroll's. I researched before 1.8 would have equal or better performance. Also, i fly at 500' above sea level take your elevation into account.

My flying buddy had a QQ yak with a Saito 180 and he said the power was awsome.

i'm building one of these and was wondering where you mounted the fuel tank with the OS 160, stock location looks to be to far back. afraid that a 160 with bisson pitts style muffler won't have enough presure to keep fuel in the carb. any one having any trouble with this setup? randy |

Randy, thow on a Perry VP30 pump and you won't have to worry at all, plus nothing beats knowing that when you need it your gonna have good fuel flow to get out of any tricky situations.

I have the VP30 pump on mine, taped the rear crank plate where os designed for tape. mounted the pump as close as possible to tape, making sure not to loose any pressure to feed pump. Having a pump is the only way to go. I've done the whole exhaust pressure stuff, and in conclustion for serious flying, 3D stuff it sucks. I have the tank mounted just infront of wing tube. you definately want to mount tank in this position so when fuel level drops your CG stays relatively the same. As for how much fuel, i have the OS and i put a 12 OZ tank on it. I time my flights for 10 Mins. flights consist of precision with 3D, or vis versa. usually 1-3 OZ left over. perfect size tank. I thought the os would use more, but since most flying around is at 1/4 or less. Really nice engine!!

From personal experience, The 72"QQ is AWSOM with the Sai180. However it is quite a fuel hog. You be able to hold a hover at a little less than 1/2 throttle. I also have a buddy that had the 72"QQ ( may it rest in peace ) with a YS140. If I had to do it all over again I would definitely go for the YS. Here is a couple of pics with the Saito 180.
