Hey guys, My 150cc Aeroworks Yak is balanced at 51/4-51/2. I like flying 3-D but is this to much. My set up is this........FULL of 8711 servos, I know I dont need this much to fly the plane well, but I fly these things as hard as I can. 2 A123's all the way to the motor dome, both fuel and smoke tanks, 3 spacers and block with a DA-170. The spinner is mejlik and light as a feather I might add. If I need to ad weight I will, but if some of you are flying close to the same balance as me with no problem then I think I'am ready. I know the recommended CG is 4 3/4. Mark if you read this I'am just wondering. |

My experience with the AW 35% Extra and Yak 54 it is best to start where AW says to. Then you can adjust according to your style of flying. Bobby aka TDD |

I dont know the exact measurement. Have you moved the engine forward? It needs to be all the way forward with out touching the cowl - this will help a lot.

dd yes I Have 3 spacers and the block, the cg on mine is between 5 1/4 and 51/2. I talked to Mark and said he wouldnt go past 5 1/4 I was just wandering if anybody else had there cg the same and if they like it like that. I built the plane about a week ago but had to Kentuckey to work an ice storm so I havnt got the chance to put it in the air yet. |

I am building the same color scheme as you, and according to Mark, this one has more support in the tail so is harder to get into the CG range. My first attempt with no spacers on the engine and four 7955's in the tail resulted in a CG around 6 and 1/4. With one spacer installed got me to around 5 and 1/2 and removing two of the servos from the tail got it to around 5. I think at this point I am going to run one servo on each elevator and pull the center servo from the wings also. This will also lighten the airframe by a pound. Mark assures me it will be fine with the single servo on the elevators. I hate to keep spacing the motor forward as it makes the prop to cowl spacing look ridiculous. Oh, I also am running a three blade carbon prop and a large spinner, so this helped a little with the CG. I also like to run wood props and I do not know how much this change will affect the range since I haven't gotten that far yet.
