Definitely look to upgrade to CF landing gear as well. And since you will be running a vibration-free electric, consider taking a dremel to the airframe. I took 13 ounces of wood out of my QB 260 with little effort. I am sure there is at least a pound to be lost in wood alone. I have only seen a GR85 on Bonedoc's Dalton, which last I remember was a tad over 20 pounds. By the video it has very good power for a 20ish pound plane:
You already have 19 pounds in airframe, motor, and ESC and are looking at another 10+ pounds in battery. You are already at 29 pounds before adding the 2 pounds in servos, horns, extensions, receiver and rx batteries(assuming that you use VERY light batteries, like A123 1100's or 1320 lipos), another .7 pounds in prop and spinner, .3-.5 pounds in engine mount/hardware, and the ever-present "fudge factor" of anywhere from .5 to 1 pound.
I know this plane is pretty big, but 32-33 pounds would make it a slug, for both the plane and the powerplant. My advice would be to try to keep it around 30-31 pounds, which is about what the take-off weight would be if it were a gasser with 32 ounces of fuel. That should be light enough for the plane, but not sure about for the motor. But that motor is only rated at 147 amps max, so I don't understand why you need 15 amps of battery??? You could drop 3.5 pounds by going to a 12S2p configuration and would still only work the batteries at a max of 15C.

The ESC and motor is the same cost of a DA 100. One battery pack for this plane is the cost of a DA100 with mufflers, prop, and spinner.

Hey bodyworks besides Graphtech do you know a good place to get CF LG. I will start taking out wood to airframe the Can tube AW said would probably be around 16 oz alone then there is some weight in the Canopy as well. Bonedoc Dalton was 20ish wow the reason i bought the GR85 was because his Dalton thought it would be somewhere around 28 pds. I will take your advice on the Batteries and just run 5300 6s2p either Eon lite or might try 5000 6s2p Zippy 30c. Do you know what Doc ran for his prop and what Rpm he was turning.

I have never had good luck with Graphtech.....seems to delaminate way to easy. Molded carbon is much more durable.........I have never tried this particular gear but I hear it is nice

That 300 has a really nice look to it in person, I saw one a while back.......

Weighted all the rest last night:

Wheels 128 grams
Axials 30 grams
Axials hardware 34 grams
Wheel paints 144 grams
Total 12.13 OZ
I will look back at several people's builds that did not take off covering and try to find ways to go on a diet!!!

Saved 3 oz today in the Canopy here is a pic need to find some weight savings in the Motor mounts and the Landing gear. I tried Super gear, graphtech , TNT and no one makes gear for this plane. I bought some 6mm rounded cap Ti bolts from race gear 130mm and Ti nuts and Washers with holes. Anyone know if someone make Ti standoffs and do they save weight over Al. made mistake in Calc last night the Wheels Axial and WP were 11.85 not 12.3 oz

Anyone know if i cut out the trays and used CF .020 inch plate that is just big enough for the batteries if i would save weight. I talked to AW before I bought plane and they seemed to think that I could loose the Pipe tunnels and brackets and would be around 3/4 to 1 pds. I do not fly Gasers but if I did remove this do you think it would save a pound and if I need to sell later would it kill resale ?

Well after not posting anything for a while. i thought I would bring you all up to date on how it is going. I mounted the Reaper GR85 and Jeti Spinn 200 . After weighing the reaper with hardware is comes out at 3.5 pds compared to the Hacker A100 at 4 pds.
