We will be better able to help you if you tell us the following: your level of experience (in building and flying), your price range (do you already have a radio and servos, or are you buying servos, etc? note: I generally assume the price of the airplane kit to be about 1/4 to 1/3 of the total "cost" of a plane when including engine, airframe, and hardware/servos), and lastly what type of flying do you enjoy most? Do you like 3D snappy-type maneuvers, or do you prefer smooth aerobatics, or a blend of the two? Finally, what airplane design "looks" best to your eyes? There are many, many good planes and engines on the market right now. |

There are quite a few companies that sell nice 50cc planes. Wildhare sells some nice Edges and Extras. Aeroworks, EF, and 3D hobby shop are a couple of others. If you stay with one of the better companys I don't think you'll go wrong with any of them.

are you against kit building? if not, you can get into a top end "kit" on the 100cc size for just a bit more than the higher quality 50cc size arfs...this would provide you an airframe built by you, for the way you want to fly. there are several tremendous build threads here that will walk you through the building of just about any airframe you could imagine! there is nothing better than flying something you built yourself. as it has been said in many other threads here... it's kind of like a right of passage!!! just food for thought.

85cc, not much more money than a 50cc. Most new 85's use 5 servos. You will have a single exh that will cost about the same as a 50. a twin exhaust will cost you twice as much.

if your goin' arf... i would certainly do what was just mentioned above. the 33%ish size 85cc planes are really close to the same investment for the airframe and basically identical for the electronics. granted an 85 is a lilttle more than a 50 but when it comes to ANY of these planes the best advice is to get one and NOT ADD UP THE DOLLARS! it'll only scare you!!! lol
