Help! Comp arf Super Xtra / 3W 210

Just wondering if someone can give me the distance from the firewall to the wing tube on a comp-arf super xtra. And also the distance from the firewall to the front of the cowling. I'm keen to see if somehow I can squeeze one of the new 3W 210's in to one of these. Cheers

da 170 is all you need i had that plane with a 150 and it was enough for imac but not enough to pull out of a hover with authority.

flew one on the weekend with a DA 150 on pipes. Nothing startling thats for sure. A guy in OZ has set one up with a DA 170 on pies and that is supposed to be quite good. I'm a 3w supporter so I'll probably end up going with the 3W 170 I am currently using in another plane running cans. Just torn between two kits I have been offered. Comp arf 3m 260 or the Super Xtra.

I campaigned my super extra for a few seasons in unlimited. I can tell you now that a DA150 without pipes would not be enough for excellent unlimited IMAC performance. I had a 157CSTS (similar power as a DA170 on cans) in mine and it was good for unlimited especially in cold weather, but in hot Aussie summers performance for IMAC could be better described as adequate.

IMAC is much more power hungry than being able to pull out of a hover. Mine used to haul out of a hover with excellent authority, IMAC is where the power is needed........ unless your chrisby flying a freestlye routine!!

Marcus, having put a lot of hours on my super extra I can recommend trying to stay with a 157/170 class motor in an attempt to keep the model as lightly wingloaded as possible. I think the 170CS would be the best choice for the super extra.
If you do go with the 210, I cant wait to see it!!

Edit. A 170CS in the 3 metre 260 would be stupid powerful..... but do you really want to blend into the crowd with another 260??

Hi Ben long time no see! The 210 cans as you know with the room you had in yours I think will be impossible. I'm running the standard 170 at the moment which I think will serve me ok for a little while. Then like you said 170 cs ts might be the go. I do really like the super xtra so I think I will go this way. I hear you are hitting the books hard again? Not leaving to much time for flying. We are just about to have a little boy, so my flying is going to be a bit limited in the next couple of months. Was due yesterday.... still waiting. Hope to catch up with you soon. Look forward to seeing your new plane together.

Marcus, good luck with the little boy!! You should be thinking of other things, not super extras!!

The progress on my Krill is veerrryyy slow, yeah I have been pretty busy with my studies so far this year.

Cheers
