Default Making a Slick

I have a Carden 40% Edge 540. I have asking a round and the same answer comes up, when flying IMAC Edges are not as good as an Extra. So instead of buying another plane what about making a set of Extra wings and putting them on an Edge 540. Is this a good idea. Has anyone tried this? Thanks

It would still not be a Slick, but it would be a bit closer.

A Slick is more of a Extra/Laser/Edge compilation.

but I don;t see why the extra wings would not work on the Edge.
Good luck!

More than likely it would work but the best person to talk to about it would be Dennis. You would have to buy the wings from him anyways. I'm not sure what answer you would get from him about it but I'm sure he's going to ask you a big "why". lol I'm dont know what type of pilot you are but I would think that unless you were really flying in the upper classes of IMAC I dont think its going to make that much of a difference. The extra's do fly better in IMAC flying but I think you could still fly the plane well in the mid IMAC classes. A lot has to do with setup.

Also.... I don't believe the Edge 540 fuse with Extra wings would be IMAC legal...(except for Basic class) as I know of no full scale plane like this...
I could be wrong though

the Slick looks great, but I've never seen a full scale one. Maybe someone should build one, that way we are in the clear to use them for IMAC!

Default Re: Making a Slick

we will be offering a slick540 by the middle of summer. we will have it in the 100cc 35% size and the 150-170cc 42% size. there are more differences, though slight, than just the wing when referring the edge to the slick.... for example....there is a canopy/turtle difference, a rudder counter balance difference and a couple other oddities that make the slick a plane all its own.

I say get a set of wings cut through one of the various foam cutting companies out there, avoid the tirade that you would recieve from mentioning it to Dennis for trying it, and see how it goes!

Thanks Guy's! I didn't think about there is no full scale slick, and that it would not be leagal for IMAC.
