Was there anything else that the QQ yaks may need a little beefing up on?
I have a Gen IV 102 inch and a Kimball Scheme 120 inch. The canopies on both sucked the big one. On the 102 inch I just re-glued all the joints and put in some cross bracing reinforcement. After that I have had around 100 flights with no issues. On the 120 inch they actually had an addendum to the build instructions outlining a procedure to beef up the canopy. It involved adding triangle stock to critical mounting support areas. They also had you fiberglass cloth and epoxy over on the inside of the canopy and frame to offer a better bond. I noticed that I had excessive vibration in the front and it actually actually cracked right through the plastic in the right front mount area. I ended up putting two layers of fiberglass cloth and epoxy on front inside of the canopy. Not alot of weight added with huge improvement in strength. Not to many flights on the 120 inch but so far so good. The one thing I can say is that both these planes are some of the best flying airplanes I have ever piloted. The 120 inch is an awesome IMAC platform.

Thank you for the advice. I will check out my canopies on my 101's and make sure i re-enforce them pretty good. I'm actually prett amazed on how good the quality is on these QQ aircraft.....very , very nice!

There are over 10 Quique planes at my field. What canopy issues? I have 2 canopies for the 120" Yak and they have fitment issues, as do 2 other friends' 120" planes, but nothing that is cracking or coming apart. Not that it couldnt happen, but I toss my canopies around whan assembling or dissassembling and didnt think to be careful with them or thought they were weak.

I would disagree on the quality of the QQ planes being above the average ARF, I have a Python and it what a mess. Still pissed at the quality of it.. I noticed the other day that the canopy is cracked and I haven't even flown it yet...

Weird man....i so far have 2 out of the 3 i bought ( 101 yaks) and went through every square inch of them and i could not ask for better quality. the covering itself is awesome , as there is no wrinkles , blemishes , nada.... I could not be more happy.

From what I have seen... the quality of fit'n'finish was declining near the end of the production run ....

A friend of mine bought a 120 2 years ago... it was a really nicely finished plane... he bought another (well... 3 more) a year ago and was not as well done as the first one....

Too bad... they looked to fly very nicely...

I am sure the lack of quality consistency drove QQ crazy!!!

Thanks for all of the sugggestions guys. Right now, as you know, the Beast is coming and it is very cool. I'm looking forward to getting one. QQ and I are talking about doing a formation routine with them or the H9 Suk.
Right now he's setteling in to the office and were lookiung at a lot of possible things to do.
Personally, its going to be a lot of fun. Hes practicing in the evenings for the F3A worlds and looking great (big surprise). Its great to have him here to work with and fly with.
As always, keep the suggestions coming. They are much appreciated.
