Default 89" AJ Slick 540 question

Hey Guys.
Building a 89" AJ slick and have a question about the firewall. Do I need to open a hole in the firewall behing the carb on a DA50 or can I leave the firewall as is?
was not sure if there is a min clearance needed or??
Thanks

As long as you don't have a stack or extender on the carb, there's no need to open a hole. There's sufficient clearance between the firewall and carb.

Another question
...It seems I need to use 3" standoffs with my DA50 to get the 6 and 3/4" distance from firewall to prop hub, however, this causes the cannister to move forward and cause interference with the down tube and cowl ring. Is this common on this model? Can the cowl ring be cut without causing issues with the cowl integrity? Or is there an extra long header coupling to use?? or???
thanks for the help.

Yes, you can cut the cowl ring as needed, will not cause problems, or use a longer silicone tube connector.
