Default Great Plane Eagle 580 Giant

Here some issue i had while building my Eagle 580...
The supplied aluminum servo horn broke during installation "imagine during a flight ", see attached picture. So decided to replace all of them with airwild arm... didn't want to risk anything.

Other then the cowl being a pain to install the plane is great, did the first 2 flights last night and its a truly beautiful aircraft to fly.

That servo arm is scary. Glad it didn't happen during a flight. It is a great plane.

How tight did you tighten the screw down? I used them on my Eagle 580 and had zero issues. A friend of mine used his on my 38% Extra without issues as well. Were you using the set screw to "press them" on the shaft of the servo and it pulled the center section through the arm? How did you load it enough in an outward (off the shaft) direction to get it to break there?

Hummm... OK...
Well i had a hard time to press them on the plastic square so i was pressing them on while screwing the horn screw.
The 2 that i had broke on me, barely had any pressure, the center part just pop out right away...

Interesting. Mine slipped right on with a push of the thumb on the top of the arm to get them to slide on. If for some reason they werent sliding on, and the set screw was used to tighten them down onto the shaft, although that seems like its not a lot of pressure, Im pretty sure thats what caused them to fail. They are only very thin aluminum at the top, and loading them in that way, with most likely a gap between the top of the plastic insert, and the top of the servo arm, i would imagine cause that type of failure. If there was no gap between the plastic insert and the arm, the bolt couldnt have pulled through as it appears to have done. As to why the inserts werent seating in the arms completely flush, I am not sure.
