I just ordered one for my first gas plane. Does anyone have this plane yet or any comments on it? I'll update when I receive the plane next week sometime. Last edited by ibanezex718; 09-11-2009 at 02:25 PM. |

Just finished mine and it flys great. Still breakin in DA50 which I had problems with the ignition and it is solved now. Another fine Aeroworks that flys as advertised. I also have the 50cc 260 which is a great flier. The build is straight forward no suprises... Mike Comeaux |

Liked it so much I'm building another. A foamy flew into me in a hover. Bye bye! I love the plane but one Hitec 7955 on the pull pull rudder was fading on me. Tried adjusting the geometry and it was still doing it. This time i'm mounting the single 7955 in the tail on a direct linkage (3.5 inch 4-40 turnbuckle) with a 1-1/4 swb half arm, and ball links. This will result in a much better mechanical advantage and no wire slop. They recommend a 2-3/4 inch arm on the pull pull but there is no way to get 2-3/4 out of the supplied control horns for proper geometry. A three inch straight arm and the center mounting hole on the control horns are perfect geometry except where the installed feeder tubes for the wire squeeze it down to about 2.5 inches. If I was putting pull pull back in I would remove those tubes and elongate the hole so the cables touched nothing and were a straight shot. make sure your ball links are on the bottom of the servo arm with the pull pull. Less stress on the servo. This is a really big 50cc airplane with a huge rudder especially for only one rudder servo on the pull pull. Knife edge loops are pretty much out of the question without two servos. Too much for one 7955 I should say. Hitecs new one just might getr done. I installed the direct linkage on the wreck first to make sure everything worked out. Getting 45 degrees of throw with no binding. There are actual servo cut outs on both sides of the rear for just this application in case you wanted to install two. Two would cause a serious balance issue that would require a bunch of lead up front. As it is, I mounted my ignition battery to one side of the engine box to offset the single rear mounted rudder servo and it balances neutral. That cg buddy is the trick! My first one came in at 19.5 lbs with a ZDZ 50 and jmb tr-50 cannister setup. 7955's all around on stock hardware. 3) 2000 mahr nimh batteries. 1 ignition, two receiver, through cermark switches and a batshare on the reciver side. This plane isnt light and I'd like to see someone get it in around 16-17 as advertised with supplied components. I'm waiting for the carbon gear and will be swapping out tubes and gear at the same time. This ought to save about 10 ozs. It is a well bult, well thought out kit and a great flier. I wouldn't have replaced it otherwise. Just my two cents. |

i have the single 7955 on my 50cc aw yak and no fade issues at all. i know people with that servo on a 35%. it might be you battery set up not letting that servo work to it's full potental. use a set of 1100mah a123's only 6oz for a pair and you might see a big difference. btw my yak is 19lbs. doing some work on it now to loose a pound hopefully. im using a full cannister exhaust which is making this plane alittle heavy.

Wow! No wonder it came out at 19.5#. Go to 1 2300mAh A123 for the rx, 1500mAh 4.8V Nimh for the ignition and just one rx and that will be a good start. I'm all for redundancy in planes but the above set-up has served me well in all of my 30% planes without a lick of trouble. Aeroworks' website lists the edge as being 17-18 pounds so with the set-up I described and possibly a non-cannister exhaust (unless you have noise restrictions at your field), you should be able to get to 18# easy. Go with a super light engine like a BME 58 Xtreme and you could get close to 17-17.5#. That would be a fantastic performer at that weight. BTW, I used a 7955 on the rudder of my EF Extra, it was 18.5# and never suffered from rudder blowback or a lack of power. Get the weight down to 17-18lbs and the 7955 will be plenty of torque for any plane.

That scheme is AWESOME! Scale looking. Think Red bull race plane.

I've got mine unboxed and am really stoked on it. The canopy itself is a work of art. Love the racing scheme and it's nice to see a "custom" racing scheme instead of another "Red Bull" scheme. I'm going DLE-55 w/muffler and Sullivan Skywriter (can't resist) 7955 servos Smart-fly power management Now I just need a day off to get started. Ryan |
