I recently came into a 50cc Edge 540T by Dave Patrick. The problem is there is no manual and I don't have the slightest idea where the CG should be set or what the control throws should be. If anyone can provide me with this info, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think I ended up at 4.5". The CG in the manual was way off. I think it said 5-6". Even 5 was totally out of control tail heavy. 4.5" is perfect for IMAC and 3D. Low rates: elev 8-10 rudder 20-25 ailerons 15-20 3D: All you can get all surfaces. What gear will you put in it?

I originally was going to put a 62cc RCGF in it but have been told that I would be better off with the 45cc. Futaba 14 channel Fasst Rx with Hitec digial servos. I have not figured anything out for sure but I already have everything but the servos. BTW. Thanks kindly for the previous information. Any other info or suggestions are appreciated.

You know you could probably do a DLE-30 in this bird if you kept it light and were not at high elevation. I think the lightest setup is one pull pull servo for both elevator halves and one pull pull servo for the rudder. DP recommended two 5245's for each aileron.

50cc is too much for that plane. Mine had a YS 1.40dz, but that was 5 years ago, flew it great. I would go with a good 30cc motor.

Mine was perfect with a DL 50. You just have to keep everything as light as you can. Bought a moki 2.10 for it as well, but put it on something else. I started somewhere around 5.5" back adjusted until it was neutral. Actually one of the very few planes I've moved the CG up on. Mine had 7955's all around. It's in the process of being rebuilt after a flameout in a low hover. Wish I had another one as it really is a great flyer.Mike |
