Would a DA 100 rocket this plane out of a hover, or at least hover at half throttle? Does anyone have a video of this plane? thanx

| Hi Tony, Found this in the video gallery, It's Sandbag's Yak with a 3W 150SS. http://www.flyinggiants.com/gallery/...php?photo=5617 I don't know how power would be with a DA100, but if it is anywhere around 24-28 lbs, it should be fine. My QQ is 26 lbs. with a DA100, and it is a rocket. Brandon |

Mine has a DA 100 on it. The power is heaps for 3D style flying, it will hover at around 1/2 throttle perhaps a little under. I fly IMAC and am starting to move up the ranks to sequences which are more and more demanding. I ended up installing a set of KS 1060 tuned pipes, this combo gives ballistic vertical performance with a Mej 28-10 prop. The only problem is getting used to the new torque curve, it is a little harder to find the sweet spot while doing say a rolling harrier butI am starting to get used to it. The yak didnt seem to suffer any negative flight charactersitics from the slight increase in weight that the pipes gave, infact I think for some crazy reason it slows up better and enters harriers and hovers more easily. Still does a great blender too. In summmary the DA 100 on normal pipes will be fine if you only want to 3D, best props that I have found are a 27-10 bolly if noise isnt a problem and the Menz 28-10 works pretty well too. If you want to compete in IMAC the model has good performance on the Mej 28-10 (will get you through intermediate) on normal mufflers, but once I changed to the KS pipes it turned into a vertical rocket!! |

Come on guys you can never have too much power , I have had my 150 in the Yak for almost a year now and I have found no bad characteristics, the only con to putting the larger motor in the Yak was that it lands around 5-10 mph faster, that's it. Mine weighs in right at 30lbs and hovers right at 1/4 throttle with both high and low needles set rich. Matt
