I've pretty much decided that I'm going to get a DR Hobbies Extra for my next plane. What I haven't decided on is what engine to put in it. Here are my choices and feel free to vote for which one you think I should go with.

DA-100 all the way. There's also the 3W-106. those would be the top 2 choices. You also have the others: ZDZ 100, ZDZ 80, 3W 75, 3W 80, Kroma 100, BME 110, etc. DA-100 pulls that plane vertical like it's a joke and its the best customer service around. 3W-106 is an awesome engine, more power than the DA, but I can't talk about service cos I have no experience. But any of them will do the job Good luck!Vic

Hi Guys... Just a reminder.. post your opinions and be kind... This is one of those threads that can go south quick. So please no DA - 3W - kroma - ZDZ - BME wars!! Thank you.... that is all!

Yes, I don't want this to be a brand war thread. The DA and BME are pretty much my top two choices, but I really enjoy the 3W I have right now and I've heard good things about the Kroma.

DA..... I flew one with a DA 100, and it was so overpowered it was insane. No kidding, it had the same kind of vertical a .40 sized profile with a .50 SX would have..... Plus, the engine is a DA, so customer service is awesome.

DA-100 vs. 3W -106 battle is 9-1 , damn.... I thought they were gonna give the 106 a chance.

The DA is the perfect choice for the 2.6, the 106 is better suited for the larger planes IMO. However, since you live up in the thin air, the better choice might be the BME.

Right now it's really between the DA 100 and the BME. One guy on DOD weighed a DA and a 3W 106CS with mufflers and the DA was 1/2 lbs. lighter. I know the DA would still have the power I want at this altitude because one of the guys I fly with had a QQ 102" Yak that weighed 28 3/4 lbs. and it would still pull it out of sight. However, the BME is 4 lbs. and more power...

Thats funny, my 106CS with ignition, spark plug, prop bolts and washers was 2oz less than my old DA in same configuration. It is possible that since he weighed them with mufflers that the 3w mufflers are heavier than the DA ones.

Yeah, it's one of those things that you don't think about. I figured the standard mufflers would weigh the same for both, but I guess they don't.
