Default comp-arf 3.0m yak 55? why not?

Does anyone here know why comp-arf doesn't make a 3m yak55? It would most probably be the most popular size and plane to buy. The 3.3m yak 55 is too big for most of us. They have a 100cc and 200cc but nothing in the 3m range for a perfect match 150cc engine. Hmmmmm

Comp-ARF also needs to make a 2.6 260

that too, but the yak has been out longer than the 260 and i expected them to make the 3m yak 55 a long time ago......

I agree, I have flown both the 2.6 and the 3.3. I like the 2.6 more than the 3.3.

Tony.... 3 years ago at the JR Challenge, I suggested "Heavily" to Andy Kane to bring up this same subject to Andreas at the Sales Team meeting that was going to be held in Punta Gorda..... He did....
It is Composite ARF's belief that they already have a 150cc Yak55 (the 3.3m).

If ONLY, Andreas had followed the suggestion 3 years ago, many of IMAC's competitions would be filled with Yak 55's....
It is one of the best flying airplanes I have ever felt!!! But neither the DA 150 nor the 3W 150/157 has enough power to perform Unlimited sequences proficiently, and these engines are what the majority of 40% pilots use.

Hopefully this thread will make Andreas take another look. It definitely would be to Comp ARF's advantage to make a 3m Yak 55SP.

Here shortly we will have engines available to us that will be capable of pulling the 3.3 along just fine. Pateince my young Jedi.

Hi Shawn.... Yes... I do understand what you are saying.... However, a new, more powerful engine would mean, new investments (engine) & accompanying accessories (mufflers/headers/props etc.).... & also spares for a contest.

The "young Jedi" is saying all this equipment is already out there with spares etc...all waiting for Comp Arf to step in & harness the market!
Wayne

PS.... HI Jay.... Hope to see you at the Don Lowe Masters!

I have had more than one conversation with other flyers that felt the same way- a 3 meter Yak would sell like crazy. Like others, I have seen the 3.3 YAK on 150's and have flown them myself and they fly well- but really need more power for the Advanced/Unlimited sequences.

I have seen two engines that really seem to make this plane work- the ZDZ 210 and the 3W212. I beg to differ with Andreas- I don't think this is an ideal 150-160 class airplane.

We are all certainly not privy to the economics - the return on investment for Andreas if he were to invest into developing and producing a 3 meter Yak compounded by what I would expect would be a smaller profit on this plane vs the 3.3 meter. Surely, he would lose some 3.3 meter sales. Perhaps Andreas feels that he wouldn't make it up in volume.

The reason Comp-Arf will NEVER build a 3 or 3.1m Yak:

They would NEVER sell another 3.3m Yak. At 3700/plane, that's quite a bit of money they'd lose. . too bad they do not realize that at $2500/plane they'd sell twice as many and make oodles more money.

they shoulda done it at 3.1m when it first came out. then the problem would never have occured.

BTW. . this is my 500th!!!!!! Post here. . . YAY!!!!!!!!!
