Hey Guys, Just got my Yak almost a week ago, I have only a few flight on it but wow I love this plane. I was out today and lost one of the vents on the side of the cowling, I checked out the Composite ARF site and they want $100 for the set.......Any one out there have an extra unpainted one they are willing to sell? I would like to get one for the weekend. Thanks, Duane Yak55.1.jpg |

Ok... got the vents from Composite Friday, they are not the right ones. Here are a few photos, if you guys could help me find where I can get them from. I really would like to fly Tuesday, do you guys think it would be cool if I flew with one missing? IMG_0290.JPG IMG_0291.JPG IMG_0294.JPG |

Wow those look a lot different than mine. I just got my plane this past Friday. They look nice though! I think you will be just fine without one of the vents.

Are those just the ones that came with the kit? Did you cut out the vents? I really like the silver ones but if I cant find one to match I quess I will just have to replace them all....

Those came with my kit. They have 4 holes in them for screws and they are metal and yes PRE cut out. The color is slightly off but nothing some paint cant fix.

Thats a good idea I just am not sure about putting more holes. I have seen it done I just don't like the looks of it.... of course it really looks ugly missing one!

I am just thinking out loud but if I couldnt find one to match I would paint one to match and put it on a less than obvious place. There comes a point when you care more about how a model flies than looks! If looks are all that matters then hang it from the cieling for display and dont fly it...lol

Last time I was in Iowa I was in Aimes with a population of like 500 I think... I dont think all that many people will notice. No wait it was some place smaller...I think Story City or something. If you had one more of the other style vents just paint it up to match the other or vice versa. Just shift some vents to the more visible places and move your not so perfect one lower. Other than that I think the only ugly on the plane will be the Futaba Sticker....well that or the Comp ARF brand name. $1500 for a custom composite airplane with cool paint scheme and they just have to paint their name on it ![]() I fly JR so. However, Futaba, for the right place I will fly whatever they heck they pay me to. |
