Help! 28% Extra 330L

Hi guys,

I have a 3W 80xi in the mail on its way to me. I was intending on buying the world models 28% extra 330L to put it in.

http://theworldmodels.com/para/produ...?airplaneid=87

However now im getting really worried thats going to be too much power for the airframe. What do you guys think? I havnt got the plane yet, would you recommend another plane that would suit this motor?

That should be ok.
But that motor will pull a 33% plane around with authority!
I'd go with that.
any of the H9 33% planes will work, as well as the Wildhare extra 260, or the edge 540.

My buddy has the 33% WH 260 and it ROCKS with that motor.

I would go to 33% for that motor, 90" is too small. That 80 will spin a 27x10. Conradical had one on his 33% yak and it yanked it around with serious authority.

Now my problem is that a 33% wont fit in my car, dont really want to spend extra on a trailer just yet.

excelpoint tells me that it will be okay in the world models 28% with good throttle managment. I just want some more opinion's if its going to have an airframe failure or problems with the 80xi...??

I appreciate your help guys!

then you should go with a 50cc that has more wing area, like the AM yak 30% og QQ (think they both have more wing...)

Its not throttle management, its wing loading.
The 90" plane will fly HEAVY even with all the power.
It won't float it will be a brick.
And let me tell you... I have 2 bricks...
they are no FUN AT ALL.
They never feel right, and fly like your on a rubber ball.

I think that's good advice. Sell the 3w first. Then measure your car or trailer to see how large an airplane you can carry. Armed with that info you can shop for a plane that will fit in your car and an engine that is appropriate.

The 3w80 is way too big and heavy for that little WM Extra.

After owning and flying 2 90" extra's(comp arf 2.3's) with ZDZ80's I think the World models will be fine with the 3w80. Both the 2.3's I owned were heavier then the world models should come out at and therefore had a higher wing loading but still flew very light. The 3w is a bit heavier then the zdz 80 by about 1/2lb but the lighter airframe should help with that over the 2.3 comp arf

Byron If you can get that plane here in Australia then that would be a good choice. As you know I fly a 44% Giles and love it for IMAC, actually after flying a few of the other 3m planes getting about I wouldnt go past the Giles as an IMAC airframe. And I certainly dont mind helpin ya fly it
