Default Aero-Works 33% 540 Kit

Hey guy's looking for anybody that is in the process of building or has this new kit from A.W.

Im thinking about ordering one since nobody else anything even close to this size of plane to where the surfaces are sheeted.

Just looking for feedback on how the plane build's and the quality of the kit.

Thanks

These are not a new kit, they are just back into production. I have one that was built in 1997 and it still out runs all of the other planes. I have never seen a plane fly so well. You will not be disappointed. It does every manuever with solid performance. What would you like to know? I will help the best i can.

Actually it is a new kit to some extent. The wings and control surfaces are pre-sheeted and the fuse is a new design from the older kits. I have not seen any build threads on the new kits. I have the ARF version that is lightened to about 26 3/4 lbs and it is a great flyer. I think the new kits will fly well too as long as you watch the weight. Keep us posted if you get it.

The kit now is made by Columbo Anderson now i believe. different design then the original.

Jamie i know how they fly that's why i want one
How did you get your's to that weight.

I'd like to build it with a BME 110 if possible. I have a line on a used one for a good price just needs a motor. but it's the ARF version. and i know they came out on the heavy side.

Just to clear things up a little the kits are redesighned to aid in the building process but the airodynamic desighn has remained the same. IE, much easier building but the same great plane as the original.

Like i said i have a chance to by a used one. how did you get yours down to that weight.

I had one a couple of years ago and mounted a bme 102 w/ cans and it still needed ballast to get it to balance. like 2 lbs that would of brought it to almost a 30 lb plane. so i sold it.

We have sold quite a few in all of the sizes. Every person I have talked with loved the way they were built some of them had built the originals and said that the new one went together 10 times eaisier. I am surprised we haven't seen much activity on any of the major sites but a lot are out there ranging from the 29% all the way up to the 40%.
