I called Tony today and ordered the 35% 260. I am going to put the zdz super 80 on a tuned pipe in it for power. Tony said he thinks this will be a killer combo and that some others out there are doing the same thing. Has anyone already been there and done that? Any feed back would be great.

Interresting project The header is critical when using tuned pipe. There are many pipes available on the market today: BMB, KS, AMT. If you go on BMB website, you can download some RPMs with different props/header lenght. http://www.bmb-daempfer.de/daempfer_eng.htm 1) What prop do you plan to use? 2) Will you put all the pipe inside the fuse or let the pipe's tip going under the fuse? I am running Mejzlick 26x10 at 6800 RPM on KS-95 can. I am sure you can turn the same prop over 7100-7200 RPM with good pipe but, if noise is an issue to your field, i would tune it for 6400-6500 with CF 27x10 prop. |

MAN.... I asked this question and 9689 posts later I still had no answer. Good luck.. I think it will rock. I got schmoozed the other way and got a DA 100 for my Dalton.. so I am REALLY interested to see if this motor rocks... cause if it does.. I'll have about 25 people to be mad at! Good luck!

The super 80 is the real deal. Got to see another one run today and flew it on a 75cc AW yak, running rich for the first 4 flights and it pulled the yak around like a rag doll. With a full pipe it will eat up a DA.

I will probably be running a mejzlik 26-10 since I have a couple of them already and as of now I plan on putting the pipe inside the fuse. I plan on using the 260 mostly for imac so hopefully the pipe wont be too loud for that. My home field isnt a problem for noise. I havent picked out a pipe header combo yet, probably go with the pipes that rc showcase sells (AMT), figure that they have tested these already and found out what works best with their engines. But I will have to do some more research and get feedback from you guys who have used them before buying one. I personally think this combo is going to ROCK |

| After flying 10 gallons with Mejzlick 26x10, i prefer the Biela 26x10 at 6500 RPM for IMAC. Everything is slower specially dowlines and landings. The high alfa knife edge is also slower. I would recommend also PT 26x10 for the breakin instead of Mejzlick. |

I have the old ZDZ80 in a 24lb plane on a JTec custom muffler with lots of gallons on it. It turns a PT 25x10 at 6,400 and makes okay power for a 24lb airframe but not spectacular - it will hover at 2/3 throttle but nothing much left to pull out with. It idles okay but not that low and not very smooth below 15% throttle no matter how you tune it. I have a DA100 on Slimline mufflers in a 27lb Cap580 with only 30 flights on it. Turns a PT 27x10 at 6,600 static and is outragious power and a very low smooth idle. The idle and sound quality of the DA is very nice. Hovers at about 5 - 6 clicks, goes up at a steady pace at 1/2 throttle, accelerates like a rocket at full throttle. I have the new Super 80 on a JMB can in an Aeroworks 75cc Yak that I'll be flying soon. At 21.5lbs it might just be too much from what I have heard LOL. I'll let you know how it compares to the other 2. I am hoping (and have been told) it will idle and transition better on the canister plus it makes about 15% more power than my other setup. I'm looking for something in the 35% range to replace my old H9 Extra... what weight would a Dalton work out at with a ZDZ80 RVJ on a canister vs a DA100 I wonder? 25lbs and you'd have a great combo I bet. Chris. |

And that was with no effort to save weight also. I figure it should come in around 25 lbs. I just got a couple of flights on my h9 extra at 25 lbs with the super 80 running very rich for break in. Im running the supersonic in cowl muffler and had it turning around 6000 rpm. I had it running at 6200 in the back yard with no problem at all, just wanted the first flights to be rich. The guys at rc showcase says it will turn 6400 when broke in. Even with the rich mixture it had enough power to pull outside loops without even grunting. When this thing gets broke in and with a tuned pipe it will definately rock on a 25 lb. plane

Other gas experts might want to chime in here, but DA recommends that you don't run it rich like glow (even during break in period). It causes carbon deposits and foul up your plugs also.
