Default Airframe for BME 110? Help!

Hello,

I am looking for suggestions for a 33-35% plane to use with my BME 110, but have a few requirements:

1. I want to run a single aileron servo per wing (affordability, complexity) without worrying about aileron twisting or mods.

2. Running the BME110, I don't want to have to add a lot of weight up front or heavily modify the stock electronics layout to balance. (I have a lot of guys telling me I will need 2lb of lead or a lot of mods in some airframes...carbon tail wheel etc)

3. Good IMAC and 3D characteristics.

4. ARF

Initially, I was thinking about the QQ 102" Yak GenII, Aeroworks 100cc Yak QB, or the Aeroworks 35% Extra 260 QB... but I don't know if these would suit my requirements as some people are saying I'll need a lot of lead upfront. Also not sure if single aileron servos per wing would work well in these.

Would a 75cc plane better match what I am looking for but still be a great flyer... something like a 75cc Aeroworks Yak?

Thanks
Shaun

Personally I don't know of one 33% - 35% 3D style plane that has only 1 aileron servo...

I think your selection will open up if you take on 2 per wing.

I wouldn't buy a 75cc plane for a BME 110. Eighter get a 80cc engine for a 75cc, or put the 110 in a 35%er. You also want to run 2 aileron servos per wing panel on a 33-35% 3D plane. The Aero-Works QB series of planes are really good! I have the 30% extra 260 and love it. I have heard a bunch of good thing about the 35%er too.

I have BME 110 in a 34% Planes Plus Extra that weighs in at just over 23lbs and I'm using one 5955 on each aileron, one 5955 on each elevator half and one 5955 on the rudder.
Makes for a light weight setup.

How do you fly that plane? 3D at all? How many flights on those servos?

Tony, thw servos have more than enough power to move the ailerons... at only 1 per wing,
most of the concern is the flexing of the aileron.

Sleepy - Your right, but i would still watch out because of the control surface weight and size while 3Ding the plane... just my thought.

I mainly put the Extra together for IMAC but have been doing more 3D than IMAC and it does great. The ailerons are pretty stiff and I've had no problems at all even at 40 deg throw on 3D rates. The hitec 5955 have more than enough torque and with one on the rudder she has no problem with high speed knife edge loops.

The ailerons are plenty stiff on the 34% Extra and the 110 would be awesome in it. The Aeroworks 260 will balance with the 110 without lead, but does need some creative battery placement. I have my two 2400 rx packs on the very front of the outside of the motor box, and my ignition battery is hanging off a wood rail, putting it right above the magnetic pickup. My CG is not set for all out 3D, but rather right in between. To keep it there, I am using a Truturn standard spinner and a CF prop, as well as a CF tailwheel, CF stab tubes, and single rudder servo. I think you could do a CF spinner and still be OK, but to have the stock stab tubes and stock tailwheel and CF Spinner would make the plane suffer for precision. As far as a single 5955 per aileron, there is a guy on RCU that did it and I haven't heard any problems with it, but you are definitely sacrificing some flex in the ailerons and would have to manage throttle really well. I love that plane and recommend it. Mine weighs 25.5 pounds with the BME and stock mufflers.
I also think the 75CC Yak would be a killer combo! The 110 is smoother than any single you will find and weighs the same as a ZDZ/pitts muffler combo or even a little less. This airfrane would handle the 110 with the greatest of ease and would probably be more single-aileron-servo friendly, although I still would recommend two servos, personally.
Probably the best all-around option for your criteria, though (single servos everywhere and little to no balancing issues), would be a Comp-arf 2.6M Extra. Lot's of guys doing the 110/single servo deal with them and are as low as 22 pounds!!!!

Thanks for the feedback guys!

bodywerks - What servos did you run in the 35% Aeroworks 260?
Could you list off all the electronics you purchased if possible for you setup?
Also I am assuming you were using NiMH 2400 packs to get the weight upfront. What prop did you use?
I was also going to go with a tru-turn spinner / CF prop combo.

dual 5945's on the elevators
Single 5955 on the rudder
5955's on the elevators
5245 digi mini for throttle
3-2400 Fromecos (li-ions)
2- Fromeco regulated reliaswitches (the ones with the pull-pin switches because they are the lightest)
1-Fromeco Regualtor for ignition with a Smart-fly ignition cutoff and no external switch (again, lighter)
no choke servo
no matchboxes, no pwerboxes
single receiver
TT 4.5" spinner and Mezj 27X10 prop (you'd probably be better with a 28X10)
