Default Ailerons right to the fuselage (full length)

Hello,

Why don't giant scale 3D/IMAC planes have full length ailerons i.e. all the way to the fuselage?

My first thought was that could be due to IMAC rules regarding how far from scale you can deviate.

Another idea is that the designers believe that the airflow over deflected ailerons will interfere with airflow over the tail. That being said, numerous electrics have full length ailerons with no apparent effect on elevator control.

It just seems that having full length ailerons would help so much with correcting against torque in the hover and perhaps anti torque rolls.

Thanks for your imput,

Full length ailerons will absolutely help with the torque in hovering. The more aileron you have over the travel of wind the better you can hold a hover if thats what you like. Personally I dont like to torque roll. I like for the airplane just to hover nice and steady.

IMAC rules don't come into play here. IMAC states that aircraft needs to have a scale OUTLINE, not surface dimensions.

Then why not run the ailerons all the way to the fuselage? It just makes sense!

Are there any manufacturers who can give some feedback?

Ailerons right to the fuse make the plane look ugly, a good idea is to leave a few inches.

You hit the nail on the head, but with one exception, it DOES affect the airflow over the empennage. It doesn't pose a huge problem, but you can notice it when you're flying precision. However, if you're just banging the sticks around with no intent on flying precise, then it's of no consequence.
