NEED PICS OF AM 37.5% YAK 54!!!!

I would like to see some pictures of someones Aviation Models 37.5% yak 54 set-up... The inside.. I would be running one reciver, power expander and a turbo reg, but need help on where to mount, and pictures would be AWSOME! I want it set-up tail heavy, because its going to be a freestyle/3D plane... I will be using a 50 ounce Gas tank, and a small tank for smoke. The smoke tank will be mounted in the canister tunnel. If i run Hitec HS 5955 servos, would 2 servos be enough for each wing, or not enough. Remember this will be a 3D plane..... So im thinking 3, but would like to hear your opinions and thoughts... Pictures would help a bunch!!!

Yes, I do have some. I will post them tonight Tony. As for the 2 Servos per wing, I am currently running two 5955s. If you are going to fly 3D only, 2 are plenty. I have noticed while flying sequences, that if I am at high speed, I will get some fade on the ailerons, so I may throw in another two... (I have been saying that all season) but for 3D, where force on the surfaces is pretty light, 2 is fine. One thing is for sure though, I definetly recommend running two per elevator half though (5945s)... I have seen a couple Yaks with 1 per half... and its kinda scary because the inboard hard point is so far in. It leaves alot of the elevator un supported. Though these airplanes have been fine all year, Im thinking those may be cases for flutter-city once you get a little slop in the gear train. I will post pics tonight.

I do, you asked this question early in the summer. I was going to sell you my set, you were going on vacation for a few days and said you would get back to me when you got home, but never did. I still have them if you are interested.

Tony, this plane does not need to be set up tail heavy to fly extreme 3d. Actually if you ballance the plane perfect then you will have the best of both worlds. Tail heavy planes were back in the day where we had 2 inch wide elevators. Today the elevators are so powerfull it takes the spot of a tail heavy plane but then we have the stability of a well ballanced aircraft. Tailheavy will only make you go backwards in your flying. Also you will have a plane that will pitch much more in Knife edge and that just screws up everything.

I agree 100% with Garrett. Mine balanced the way I balance all my airplanes, and it is perfect for IMAC and 3D. No need to make this airplane at all tail heavy.

Its good to know, because on my 3m comp-arf 330, it wont do extreme 3D w/ it balanced perfectly..... But i noticed the stabs and elevators on the 37.5% yak are HUGE! So where should i mount the 50 ounce gas tank? I want it on top, but dont know if it needs to be in the motor box area or back by the wing tube.?.?.?.?.?.?.? I am also going to mount the smoke tank in the tunnel, but dont know if i should mount it towards the very back or more towards the nose.?.?.?.?.?.?.?.?

Tony, keep everything as far forward as possible. My ignition is on top of the motorbox and and ignition battery and regulator are on the side of the motorbox. Both Rx batteries are inside the box right behind the firewall. I too am running 2 aileron servos and it is fine. A couple of guys up here are running one servo per aileron half, although I do not know if I reccomend that. It does seem to work out fine. also, the Seiko is a perfect economical choice for 3D. Keep the tank as close to the tube as possible to prevent cg changes as it empties. Hope these pics help. Craig
