Hello, I was considering getting the BME 37% Ultimate or the Aeroworks 35% Extra 260. 3D mainly... What do you think? Also, does the BME Ultimate have bad knife edge coupling? From the web video it looked great, KE was solid, harriers and hovers were great, but I'd like some pilot feedback as I haven't heard too much about this plane. How much smaller will the Ultimate look? Is it IMAC legal? Does anyone have the wing area? I have a BME110 already. I know this will balance the Ultimate perfectly and will require batteries up front on the Extra, but have seen it done. Thanks everyone for your help, Shaun

From what I have seen the Ultimate is a great plane. The questions you have to ask yourself is. Do I want to put together a bipe or a mono? It does indeed take a certain person that is willing to put on 4 wings and flying wires.I hate to say it but John VH on RCU has a thread on the BME Ultimate. Granted John and Ken are good flyers so they make it look easy. Ask them any question they answer honestly. Bruce

apples with apples - no Sir - these two planes are worlds appart - both great but oh so different bipes are real show planes because they fly different and the do the manuevers differently - the mono will never fly like a bipe but will do more manuevers - you have to be a bipe man to appreciate it and the extra work related takes some doing - i know as i have several bipes - but no matter what mono plane flies like the bipe allways steal the show - not sure why maybe the size. buy both and you will not be sorry - lol

I already responded to you through a different venue, and it looks like these guys concurr with my basic assesment. Two differnt planes entirely, IMO, and neither better than the other depending on different flying styles.

| I’d have to agree with Adrian. Two different planes for sure and you’d be happy with either. I will tell you that the big Ultimates are showstoppers and everything else plays second fiddle to them. I am always amazed how much attention the big bipes get. If I were searching for a strictly IMAC plane I’d probably go with the 260. If I wanted to mix it up with 3d and show off, the Ultimate is the only way to go. Biplanes are not for everyone it seems, and there’s a little more work involved getting it setup when you get to the field but it's all worth it to me. Ken |

I am in the process of assembling my BME Ultimate with a BME 115. The workmanship of the Ultimate is flawless. everything fits perfectly, all flying surfaces are perfectly aligned. Didnt even have to trim the canopy. As finances keep dribbling in I'll finish it Bank account took a big hit when my custom built trailer arrived (same time the engine became available). I had a trailer built, 102 x 120 in 24 in bottom, 18 in top hinged in the front. Tail gate is 90 in wide. No dissassembly of any of my Bipes. The only disadvantage is front end access, a little free thinking will get past this (I hope). |
