Here is the last picture of my plane, moments before it was shot down, by a foamy pilot the day before the Cactus Classic in Phoenix. I can only say how crushed I am, and not being able to compete after driving over 300 miles really hurts. I know he was upset also and is going to pay for it. This plane was set up perfect and flew so good!!Picture_019_Large_.jpg

Wow, I had a plane shot down once, but the kid called his mommy to bring the check book to the field. The yellow one is HOT.

Oh my gosh, that was a brand new plane. I'm really sorry for your loss, you must have been ready to shoot him down!

It was me. I am not a foamy pilot, per se - I just happened to have a foamy that day because I flew in from Colorado and had a friend bring it with him from my dad's house in California. I fly giant scale stuff as well.
It was a series of prior events that led up to this disaster:
1. I have two 9303's
2. the foamy I had was programmed into both 9303's and had flown it with both of them.
3. I was just in Arizona two weeks ago, at that very same field, after leaving the Arizona electric festival, where there were 8 registered pilots on my channel (29). I went to the SVF field to try to get some flying in, but there was someone on my channel there as well and I only got two flights in. To say I had "29 on the brain" would be an understatement! So, when I got to the field and saw other pilots out there flying foamies, I jumped at the chance to fly when I saw that my channel (or what I thought was my channel) was open.
4. I didn't see any glitching on my plane when I turned on, and lazyboyflyer's plane went in shortly thereafter. There was also another plane in the air that landed and appeared to go into lockout and taxied right into a safety net. I then launched my plane and it went in. I went out and grabbed it and had a guy hold it so I could do a range check. All checks good. I launch it again and it does the same thing again, only this time, I saw it was my elevator going haywire. I catch it and, sure enough, my elevator servo gears were stripped. At that point, I thought that was my only problem. I set the plane down and went to help my buddy. Moments later, someone pics up my plane and says, Hey, I thought you said you were on channel 29 - this plane says 51!" D'oh! It was then that I realized where I screwed up and that I just bought my first 40%er.
I have been into this hobby for 20 years and have never been on this end of it, but I have been on lazyboy's end of it. It was never a 40%er, but I still know how helpless he felt to watch his plane go in and not be able to do anything about it. Unfortunately, now I know how it feels to be that guy . I fully understand his anger and his not being very pleased at the mere sight of me, but I am going to make it as right as I can, and hopefully we will cross paths again and be able to shake hands...
FWIW, no-one (except you 2.4ghz guys) is immune to shooting someone down - it happened again the next day.

Man Guys, That story made MY stomach turn while reading it...... That's a real shame. Lazyboy sorry about your loss, That truly was an awesome looking plane. I could not believe it when i just read your post that it went in...... Did the engine survive without any major damage? Hopefully all your gear held up.......

Oh man, I saw bodywerks at our fly in and he seemed pretty safe. Just one of those bad luck things. I guess you're going to have to hold off on electrifying your 260 now.

I would never say it ended on a positive note.....both Bodywerks and Lazyboy are out of certain things.

I don't think there are any hard feelings......I think the biggest frustration is the time spent to prepare for a contest was lost. And the "foamie" pilot comment was meant as a foamie being flown during IMAC practice. In IMAC we see this alot. Guys will grab their foamies and play around either in the parking lot or on the runway while others try to practice. IMHO he wasn't raggin on foamies but just venting

With 2 shootdowns in one weekend.............we are all waiting for XPS modules or a 9ch spectrum/Futaba to come out
